NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
In addition to its pair of national championships in 2021, the Navy intercollegiate sailing program has had a rich history of success, winning several national titles since its first varsity season in 1938.

The Mids have won the Henry A. Morss Trophy for the ICSA Fleet Race National Championship and the Walter C. Wood Trophy for the ICSA Team Race National Championship seven times, along with taking the Gerald C. Miller Trophy for the Women's Fleet Race National Title six times.

WINNING WAYS
Navy enters competition at the ICSA National Championships following an impressive showing during the spring portion of its 2021-22 campaign. The Midshipmen won seven races this spring, including the Middle Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) Fleet Race Championship for the America Trophy and the MAISA Team Race Championship for the Prosser Trophy which secured a pair of automatic bids for Navy to the ICSA Nationals.

ALL-MAISA RECOGNITION
Prior to its participation in the ICSA National Championships, several members of the Navy intercollegiate sailing team were recognized by MAISA for their contributions during the 2021-22 season. Gray Benson, Olivia de Olazarra, JC Hermus, Kimmie Leonard, Fiona Lobon and Ryan Wahba all represented the Midshipmen on the All-MAISA Teams.

Hermus highlighted the Mids' accolades, as the senior was named the MAISA Open Skipper of the Year and an All-MAISA First-Team Skipper selection. Joining Hermus in earning first-team honors was Benson, who was named an All-MAISA First-Team Skipper for the first time in his career. Rounding out the Navy presence in earning first-team accolades was the pairing Leonard and Lobon, as each was named All-MAISA First-Team Crew selections, respectively, while Wahba was recognized as a second-team crew honoree.
