"Braden competed great and did what he needed to do," Director of Navy Track and Field / Cross Country
Jamie Cook said after the meet. "He was very consistent. He started off great with a great throw on his first one. He improved on his second one, which was all he really needed to do. Great job by him handling the competition and the conditions. For Braden, a huge accomplishment to get to Nationals."
In the 110m hurdles, the Mids'
Brahmir Vick (Middletown, Del.) qualified for Friday's quarterfinals, clocking a time of 13.83 (1.2). The time was the third best for Vick and the team this season, while ranking fifth in Navy history. The top three finishers in each heat advanced to the quarterfinals with the next six best performances advancing. Vick did not claim an automatic qualifying performance; however, his time was three-thousandths of a second faster than the seventh-best remaining times, lifting the sophomore into the quarterfinals of the 110m hurdles on Friday, May 27 at 6:15 p.m.
"Brahmir ran a pretty good race," Cook added. "He got the last qualifying spot, which is good. Hopefully, he can run a cleaner race on Friday and do what he needs to do. He competed pretty well. Everybody competed well. It is tough meet. We have had great years and this is a great experience for all of them. I am really proud of them."
"We knew it was going to be a high level of competition. Our guys competed extremely well. I am really proud of them. Braden made it through and Brahmir made it through to the next round and some guys just missed it. You have to applaud the effort after such a tremendous year. It was awesome for these guys to get this far."
