Tarzy Leads the Way for Navy Golf at Georgetown Intercollegiate

ROCKVILLE, Md. //  Jack Tarzy (So / Medford, N.J.) put together his third-career top-20 finish to lead the Navy men's golf team to a 13th-place finish Monday at the Georgetown Intercollegiate played at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md. Navy entered the final day of competition in a three-way tie for 10th alongside William & Mary and Princeton, but was unable to move up in the final standings and completed the 54-hole tournament with a 65-over par 929 (306-306-317).

Tarzy, who appeared in just his eighth-career tournament for the Mids, began the day inside the top 10 after finishing the first-two rounds 1-over (72-73). The second-year player shot Navy's low round on Tuesday with a 78, but slipped to 17th on the final leader board with a 7-over par 223.

Team captain Benjamin Valdez (Jr / Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) was perhaps the most consistent among Navy's lineup, shooting rounds of 76, 78 and 78 to finish 16-over (232) and tied for 40th. Local product Luke Lombardo (Fr / Severna Park, Md.) made his first-career tournament appearance for Navy and placed 59th with a 22-over par 238 (77-77-84). Noah Nuez (Jr / Laveen, Ariz.) finished just a stroke back in 60th (81-78-80=239), while Owen Huntington (Jr / Camas, Wash.) closed out the Navy group in 69th (82-79-81=242).
