ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy swimming and diving teams return to competition Saturday when the Mids (2-1 men / 1-1 women) play host to the annual meet against American (1-4, 3-2), Bucknell (2-0 / 1-1) and Lafayette (1-1 / 0-2). The first event begins at noon in Lejeune Hall.

Attending the Meet
Vehicle access to the USNA is limited to those with an approved ID card. All others must park outside of the USNA and walk through the gate one visitors center (52 King George St., Annapolis, MD, 21402). Those ages 18 and over must have a government issued photo identification card, such as a driver's license, and visitors ages 17 and under who do not have a valid photo ID must be accompanied by an adult.
Navy Men (2-1)
The Mids earned victories on back-to-back days against UMBC and George Washington two weeks ago. Navy defeated the Retrievers, 199-88, and the Revolutionaries, 154-134.
Michael Phillips leads Navy with five individual event victories this season. He won both breaststroke events against UMBC and George Washington and added a victory in the 200 IM against the Retrievers.
Ben Irwin ranks second on the team with four wins. He is the lone Mid to have won at least one event in each of Navy's three meets this season.
Finn Gelbach leads the way in diving with three board victories.
Navy Women (1-1)
Saturday marks Navy's first meet in two weeks. The Mids last recorded a 162.5-137.5 win over George Washington on Oct. 21.
Lauren Walsh has recorded a team-high five individual event victories this season. She won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events against both Penn State and George Washington and also won the 200 IM against the latter foe.
American Men (1-4)
The Eagles will compete at Loyola against the Greyhounds and Colgate Friday prior to making the short drive to Annapolis. American heads into the meet with a 1-4 record on the year. The team's win came against Catholic and the losses have been to UMBC, Mount St. Mary's, Georgetown and Howard.
Navy defeated American, 243-45, when the teams met last season at Bucknell. The Mids have compiled a 16-0 record against the Eagles.
American Women (3-2)
The women's team also will face the Greyhounds and the Raiders Friday afternoon. American has recorded wins over Mount St. Mary's, Catholic and Howard and lost meets to UMBC and Georgetown.
Navy holds a 27-1 advantage in the all-time series with American. The Mids posted a 237-61 victory over the Eagles last season.
Bucknell Men (2-0)
The Bison have posted wins over Holy Cross (186-112) and Boston U. (173.5-124.5) this season.
Navy tallied a 189-110 victory in last year's meet between the teams. The Mids now lead the all-time series by an 18-1 count.
Bucknell Women (1-1)
Bucknell opened its season with a 201-99 victory at Holy Cross, then dropped a 157-143 decision at Boston U. the following day.
Navy won a 202.5-97.5 meet against Bucknell last year in Lewisburg, Pa. The result raised the Navy lead in the series to 19-6.
Lafayette Men (1-1)
Lafayette has split a pair of meets against Patriot League competition thus far this year. The Leopards lost a 235-65 decision to Loyola and defeated Colgate by the score of 199-99.
The Mids earned a 245-54 win over the Leopards last season. Navy enters this year's meet with a 19-0 advantage in the series.
Lafayette Women (0-2)
The team has lost each of its two meets this season. Loyola posted a 227-73 win over the Leopards and Colgate won a 165-131 meet against Lafayette.
Navy defeated Lafayette, 253-57, in last year's meet. The Mids have won all 18 prior duals with the Leopards.
