Shankar Jambunathan (So / Aurora, Ill.),
Alexander Orr (Fr / Haverford, Pa.),
Lucas Spiro (So / Buffalo, N.Y.) and
Matt Wang (So / Malvern, Pa.) have been named to the 23-player Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference All-Academic Team it was announced.
The Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference is the first squash-specific collegiate athletic conference in the United States and was officially sanctioned by the College Squash Association Board of Directors in May of 2019. The conference includes Dickinson, Drexel, Franklin & Marshall, MIT, Navy and Virginia. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
A robotics and control engineering major, Jambunathan has put together a 3.57 grade-point average in his three-plus semesters at the Academy. He has been named to the Superintendent's, Commandant's and Dean's Lists since his arrival in the fall of 2021 and is ranked among the top 25 percent of his class of more than 1,100 students in Academic Order of Merit.
Orr, meanwhile, has enjoyed a successful rookie campaign both on and off the court as he earned a 3.70 GPA in naval architecture and marine engineering in his first semester. He stands among the top 17 percent of his class of 1,150 students in Academic Order of Merit.
Spiro is making his second appearance on the list as Navy's lone honoree a year ago. The two-year varsity letter winner continues to excel in the classroom where he owns a 3.97 GPA as a physics major. He has been named to the Superintendent's and Commandant's Lists four teams and stands No. 36 in Academic Order of Merit, No. 149 in Military Order of Merit and No. 50 in Overall Order of Merit among his class of 1,125 students at the Academy.
A mathematics with economics major, Wang has amassed a 3.54 GPA as a sophomore. He has been named to the Superintendent's List once, the Commandant's List twice and the Dean's List once. He is among the top 30 percent in Academic Order of Merit within his class.
