The 20th-ranked Navy squash team (2-0) opened the 2024-25 campaign over the weekend, scoring an 8-1 victory at #29 Denison (0-1) on Saturday and a 9-0 sweep over Pitt (0-1) in a neutral site match played at Denison on Sunday.

Weekend Highlights
• 12 of Navy's 13 players saw action between the two contests, including freshmen Wenqing Tang (Villanova, Pa.), Michael Tierney Jr. (Berwyn, Pa.), Hudson Poirier (Wellesley, Mass.)and Eli Levy (Williamstown, Pa.). Meanwhile, freshman Avinash Uppuluri (Short Hills, N.J.) is sidelined for the foreseeable future rehabbing an injury.
• Wenqing Tang, Matthew Kang (So / Malvern, Pa.), Tighe Mullarkey (So-Jr / Locust Valley, N.Y.), Ramsey Killinger (So / Wyndmoor, Pa.), Michael Tierney Jr. and Hudson Poirier competed in both matches with all 6 players putting together a 6-0 record. Eli Levy, meanwhile, played an exhibition match against Denison before earning a victory against Pitt in his first countable match.
• The Mids surrendered just one individual match among the 18 played over the weekend. Matt Wang and Denison's Juan Felipe Hernandez have played some amazing matches, including last year's remarkable come-from behind victory by Wang, who trailed his foe 0-2 and went on to win three-consecutive games to capture the win at the College Squash Association Divisional Team Championship. Hernandez, however, bested Wang on Saturday, 11-7, 7-11, 4-11, 11-9, 11-5.

What's Ahead
• Navy returns home next weekend to play host to its annual Veterans Day Weekend round robin where a combined seven men's teams will play in the three-day tournament that begins Friday evening (Nov. 8) and will be staged at both the Prager Family Squash Facility in Halsey Field House and the Bancroft Hall Squash Courts.
• The Mids will play 16th-ranked MIT in the first match of the round robin beginning at 6:00 pm on Friday.
