Scouting Villanova
• Eighteenth-year head coach Mike Corrado has led the Wildcats to a 4-3 record heading into Tuesday's contest against Navy. • Navy has played half of the teams in the Big East and 2 of the 3 the Mids have played just once, including Villanova.
• Navy has played Georgetown 24 times (7-17) and Providence once (1-0). Navy has never played Marquette, a program current Navy head coach Joe Amplo started, Denver or St. John's.

Newsworthy Notes from the Johns Hopkins Win
• The win marked just the 9th time Navy has defeated Johns Hopkins on its home field, including each of the last 2 games played at Homewood Field. Prior to the 2022 and 2024 wins, the Mids had not won at Homewood Field since 1969.
• Only 3 Navy coaches have defeated Johns Hopkins on its home field - Hall of Famers Dinty Moore (1953, '55) and  Willis Bilderback (1959, '61, '63, '65, '69), along with Joe Amplo (2022, '24). Only 4 (add George Finlayson) have defeated them multiple times during their careers regardless of the site.
• Navy trailed Johns Hopkins by as many as 5 (6-1 / 3:05, 1Qtr) in Friday's win. It's the largest deficit Navy has overcome since trailing Johns Hopkins 5-0 in the 3rd quarter of the Mids' 9-8 overtime win on April 24, 2010.
• Navy's defense held Johns Hopkins to single digits for the first time this season (avg. 13.00).
• Navy's defense held Johns Hopkins scoreless in the 2nd quarter. It's the only time the Blue Jays have been held without a goal during a quarter this year.
• Navy's defense held Johns Hopkins scoreless for 2 long periods of time - 22:41 (3:05 1Qtr - 10:24 3Qtr) and 19:21 (10:24 3Qtr - 6:03 4Qtr). It's 2 of the four-longest droughts by a Navy opponent this season.
• It was just the 6th time (2000, '04, '05, '10, '16, '24) in the 93-game history the game was decided in overtime and only the 2nd win (2010, '24) by the Mids in the extra frame.
• It was Navy's first overtime game since defeating #6 Army 12-11 at West Point on April 23, 2022. That game also marked the last time Navy defeated a team ranked in the top 10.
• Max Hewitt (Sr / M) scored the game-winning goal in each of Navy's last 2 wins over Johns Hopkins.

Poll Busters
• Navy owns a 165-210 all-time record against teams ranked in the top 25.
• After dropping back-to-back decisions to #9 Johns Hopkins (12-9) and #7 Villanova (17-6) last March, Navy won back-to-back games against #17 Boston U. (10-8) and #13 Loyola (11-10).
• The last time Navy earned back-to-back victories against nationally-ranked teams was in 2021 when the Mids earned a 14-12 win at #15 Loyola before posting a 9-4 victory against #10 Army.
• Thanks to its remarkable come-from-behind overtime victory last Friday against #8 Johns Hopkins, Navy has now won road games against nationally-ranked opponents in each of the last 4 seasons. The Mids dealt #15 Loyola a 14-12 loss at Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore on April 17, 2021, earned a 12-11 overtime victory against #6 Army at Michie Stadium in West Point on April 23, 2022 and knocked off #13 Loyola (11-10) for a second time in Baltimore on April 7, 2023.
