Track and Field Set To Compete In Navy Spring Invitational and Virginia Challenge

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy track and field teams will compete at home for the final time this season to play host to the Navy Spring Invitational on Friday and Saturday at Ingram Field.
 
Friday's schedule includes the multi events (noon) and field events (3:30 p.m.). Saturday's slate features the multi events and field events (9:30 a.m.) along with the start of the track events (noon). The meet will not have team scoring.
 
The Mids will also have mid-distance and distance athletes competing in the Virginia Challenge on Friday (4:45 p.m.) and Saturday (2 p.m.) at Lannigan Field in Charlottesville, Va. The Virginia Challenge will also not have team scoring.

Notes For Traveling Fans
• Vehicular access to the Naval Academy is limited to those drivers with a Department of Defense identification card
• All other visitors must either park outside of the Naval Academy grounds and walk through the security gates at Gate 1 or take the complimentary shuttles from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Md., 21401)
• The shuttles will run from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday
• Enter the blue/west parking lot through gate 5 off of Taylor Avenue
• The cost of parking is $10
• Visitors 18 years and older must present a government-issued identification card (driver's license / passport) to gain access to the Academy grounds, while visitors 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult
 
Lowenstein Named Patriot League Women's Field Athlete Of The Week
Hannah Lowenstein was named this week's Patriot League Women's Field Athlete of the Week for her outing at the Virginia Grand Prix last weekend.
 
The senior claimed the fourth outdoor field athlete-of-the-week honor in her career and the first since 2022.
 
Lowenstein tied the second-best high jump mark in team history at 1.76m (5' 9.25") to take second place in the event. She finished just 0.01m short of tying her school-record height of 1.77m (5' 9.75"). The Pompano Beach, Fla., native's mark ranks 43rd in the nation and second in the Patriot League this season.
 
Other Top-10 Performances In Charlottesville
Nathan Kent added his name to the record book in the 200m and 4x400m relay. He clocked in the third-fastest 200m time in program history at 20.84 to finish in second place. Kent's season-best 200m time of 20.76 currently ranks 65th in the nation and first in the Patriot League.
 
The sophomore later ran in the 4x400m relay with Pete deJonge, Jacques Guillaume and David Walker. The squad combined to win the race by posting the third-best time in team history (3:07.54). Navy's time stands at 36th in the country and first in the Patriot League.
 
Joshua Boamah recorded another top-10 distance in the shot put with a winning throw of 18.49m (60' 8"). His shot put mark ranks fifth in school history.
 
Boamah's top shot put (19.09m / 62' 7.75"), discus (54.86m / 180' 0") and hammer throw (63.00m / 206' 8") distances this season are ranked 15th, 63rd and 64th in the nation, respectively. His shot put and discus throws are both the top marks in the Patriot League, while his hammer throw distance is second.
 
Annie Lemelin posted the first top-10 time in the 400m hurdles since 2019. She placed second in the race with the eighth-best finish in Navy history (1:00.30). Her time is the fastest in the Patriot League by 0.45.
 
Ellie Abraham compiled the ninth-fastest 1,500m time (4:26.61) in program history to earn seventh place in the race. She owns the fourth-best 1,500m finish in the conference. Additionally, her season-best 3,000m steeplechase (10:41.66) and 800m (2:12.70) times rank second and sixth in the Patriot League, respectively.
 
Vick and Rudisaile Winning Streaks
Brahmir Vick continued his dominance in the 110m hurdles this season by placing first at the Virginia Grand Prix. He has won all five of his 110m hurdle races during the outdoor season. Additionally, Vick placed first in all six 60m hurdle competitions during the indoor season. The senior broke the 110m hurdle program record earlier this year with a time of 13.58. His school-record time is currently the 20th-fastest finish in the country and first in the Patriot League.
 
Walker Rudisaile has placed first in the pole vault in seven-consecutive meets dating back to the indoor season. He has claimed first place in the event in 10 of the 12 meets he has competed in during the 2023-24 campaign. The Marion, Texas, native's top height of the outdoor season (5.16m / 16' 11") ranks 52nd nationally and first in the conference.
 
Cook Selected As Heinz Lenz Fellow Award Recipient
Director of Track & Field / Cross Country Jamie Cook was selected as the 2024 Heinz Lenz Fellowship Award Recipient.
 
The Naval Academy Class of 1973 created a fellowship in honor of the late Coach Heinz Lenz. The appointed coach, selected by the athletic director every two years, epitomizes Coach Lenz's leadership qualities and attributes. The award recognizes the importance of athletics excellence as a contributor to the overall mission of the Naval Academy to develop Midshipmen morally, mentally and physically and wishes to commemorate the athletic excellence pillar in honor and memory of Coach Heinz Lenz.

NCAA East Region Rankings
The Mids will look to continue to climb the rankings in the NCAA East Region to qualify for regionals. Athletes who rank among the top 48 in their respective event will earn a berth to regionals. Additionally, the top-24 relay teams will qualify for the event.
 
The men's team currently has 14 athletes who own a qualifying time / mark in 13 events.
