LEWISBURG, Pa. – A strong Friday showing found the Navy women's golf team in first place at the end of the opening round of the 2024 Patriot League Championship, being held at the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pa.
Shooting a 15-over par 295 as a team in the first round, the Midshipmen closed out Friday five strokes ahead of second-place Lehigh and six strokes in front of the third-place squad, Boston University.
Leading the way for Navy through the first 18 holes were senior
Stephanie Lee and sophomore
Sue Lee, with both Mids posting scores of 3-over par-73 to sit tied with Richmond's Olivia Wilkie, Boston's Amy Han and Lehigh's Olivia Lu for the top spot on the player leaderboard.
Just one stroke behind the leaders, freshman
Emma Tang ended Friday in a tie for sixth place at 4-over par 74, while sophomore
Hallie Brisco wrapped up the round at 5-over par 75 that placed her in a tie for eighth and rookie
Keira Howard shot a 7-over par 77 to put herself tied for 13th heading into Saturday.
Rounding out the Navy lineup was senior
Mara Hirtle, who shot a 13-over par 83 that placed her 31st going into the second round.
Navy continues championship play on Saturday, with second-round tee times set for 8:30 a.m. in Lewisburg.
