Sprint Football Earns Pair of Weekly Awards

Hunter Gennicks (Offensive Player) and Mick Tabor (Defensive Player) were named CSFL Athletes of the Week.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) announced its weekly accolades and Navy student-athletes Hunter Gennicks and Mick Tabor were recognized for their efforts in the Mids' 28-17 victory over Chestnut Hill over the weekend. Gennicks was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Tabor was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.

Gennicks rushed for a career-high 276 yards, finishing just 15 yards shy of the all-time record for yards in a game of 291 set by David Williams against Army on Nov. 4, 2011. He accounted for 88.2-percent of Navy's 313 rushing yards. The junior running back finished with three rushing touchdowns, finding the end zone on 16-, 2-, and 72-yard runs. In addition, Gennicks caught a pass for five yards for his fourth touchdown of the game.

Tabor, who notched eight tackles, led the team with 2.5 tackles for loss, a sack, and two fumble recoveries, led a Navy defense that held Chestnut Hill scoreless in the second half. In the second half, Tabor was involved with six total tackles, resulting in just one yard gained by Chestnut Hill. He had a solo sack for a loss of seven yards in the second half, while recovering a pair of fumbles in the final two quarters of play. Additionally, Tabor added a quarterback hurry in the game.

Up next, Navy remains at home to take on Molloy on Friday, Oct. 24 at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The game will be live streamed on the Navy Athletics YouTube Channel and live stats will be available.
