ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy intercollegiate sailing team closed out the fall regular season Saturday and Sunday with fourth-place finishes at a pair of conference championships, taking part in the MAISA Fall Women's Regatta at Throggs Neck, N.Y., as well as the War Memorial Regatta in Geneva, N.Y.

The MAISA Women's Fall Regatta, serving as the conference's women's fleet-racing championship, was hosted by Fordham University and had shifty winds provide challenging racing for the 15-team field. The Midshipmen avoided deep finishes to establish themselves in the top tier early, holding onto fourth throughout the event. Seniors
Ava Farley and
Darby Graham finished fifth in the "A" division while junior
Josie Sherry and sophomore
Sarah McNelly also took fifth in the "B" division.

Serving as the MAISA open fleet-racing championship, the War Memorial Regatta had an 18-team field make its way to host Hobart and William Smith Colleges in central New York. Light and shifty winds resulted in some delays, but eight races per division were able to be completed by the end of Sunday.  The Mids held a narrow lead after Saturday but a trio of lower scores on Sunday dropped the team to fourth overall, as seniors
Nathan Smith and
Ellie Alex claimed the overall victory in the "A" division while juniors
Henry Allgeier and
Fiona Cullen finished fifth in the "B" division.

Up next for Navy are the ICSA Singlehanded Championships and the ICSA Match Race Championship in mid-November.
