Opening Kick
• RV / #23 Navy (7-0, 5-0 in the American) and RV / RV North Texas (7-1, 3-1) will meet for just the 3rd time on the gridiron and the 2nd time as conference foes in one of the biggest college football games of the weekend on Saturday afternoon (12 noon ET, 11:00 am CT) at DATCU Stadium in Denton, Texas.
• This will be Navy's first trip to Denton since the epic 2007 game when the Mids defeated the Mean Green 74-62. At the time, it was the highest-scoring game in regulation in FBS history. That game also marked the last Navy game not to be televised by any entity (over the air or streaming). Navy also beat North Texas 27-24 in 2023 in Annapolis.
• Navy is one of just 6 remaining unbeaten teams, joining BYU, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Ohio State and Texas A&M.
• Navy has won 10-consecutive games dating back to last year, which is tied with BYU for the 2nd-longest active winning streak in the country. Ohio State has the longest winning streak in the FBS with 11-straight wins.
• The 10-game winning streak over a 2-year span is tied for the longest winning streak in school history. Navy also won 10-consecutive games in 1959-60, 1917-18 and 1910-11.
• A win over North Texas would give Navy an 8-0 record for just the 2nd time in school history. Navy started 9-0 in 1926 and ended up sharing the National Championship with Stanford and Alabama.
• Navy has won 7-consecutive games against American Conference opponents dating back to last year (does not count the win over Army, which is considered a non-conference game). That is tied for the 2nd-longest conference winning streak in the country with BYU and Georgia Tech. Boise State leads the nation with 16-straight wins.
• Navy has won 4-consecutive road games dating back to last year, which is tied for the 3rd-longest streak in the country with BYU, Houston and North Texas. Oregon leads the way with 10-straight road wins, while Ohio State has won 5 in a row.
• Navy has won 77-consecutive games at home when leading after 3 quarters, the nation's longest streak. The last time Navy lost at home when leading after 3 quarters was Oct. 23, 1999, when the Mids led Akron 29-13 and lost 35-29.
• Navy started the year playing 4 of its first-5 at home. The Mids will finish the season with 4 of their final-5 games played away from Annapolis.
• Navy became bowl eligible with a thrilling 32-31 win over Temple on Oct. 11. Navy has played in 25 bowl games all-time, including last year's 21-20 win over Oklahoma in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. Navy owns a 13-11-1 record in bowl games, winning 6 of the last 7.
• Navy owns a 755-603-57 (.554) record over 145 seasons. The 755 wins are the 23rd most in FBS history, the most of any Service Academy and the most of any team not in the Autonomy 4.
•
Brian Newberry started off his head coaching career at Navy with a 20-10 record, which is the best 30-game start by a Navy head coach since Wayne Hardin went 20-9-1 from 1959-61. Ken Niumatalolo, the winningest head coach in school history, started his first-30 games at Navy with a 19-11 record. Newberry is currently 22-10 as a head coach.
• Navy has 20 players on its roster from the state of Texas, which makes it the 4th-most represented state on the Navy roster next to Florida, Georgia and Maryland. Some of the key players on Navy's roster who hail from the state of Texas include snipe
Michael Barrow (Grand Prairie), punter
Jacob Carlson (Plano), quarterback / fullback
Jackson Gutierrez (San Antonio), safety
Phillip Hamilton (Fort Worth), wide receiver
Luke Hutchison (Round Rock), defensive lineman Matthew Reyes (Friendswood), safety

Horvath carries a 3.69 grade-point average and earned a perfect 4.0 in both semesters of his junior year. He is the 11th Navy player to be named a finalist and the 1st since Cameron Kinley in 2020. • Heidenreich is 8th in the FBS in yards per reception, averaging 20.3 yards per catch.
