ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy sprint football team (7-0) travels to West Point, N.Y. to take on Army (7-0) in the annual Star Game, which is part of the overall Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA, on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Shea Stadium. In addition to the Star, the Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) championship is on the line as the game pits the conference's two unbeaten teams against one another.

All-Time Series
Navy holds the all-time series lead against Army, 49-41-1. The Midshipmen are 28-24-1 in games away from Annapolis and 16-17-1 against the Black Knights in true road games.
In the last 10 meetings, the two teams have played even with both teams claiming five wins apiece. The Black Knights have a slight 3-2 advantage in the last five Star competitions with the Midshipmen claiming the Star in 2021 and 2022. Navy 3-2 against Army in the last five CSFL Championship games, winning three straight from 2021 through 2023. Last season, the Black Knights snapped the Mids' streak of championships with a 21-16 win in West Point.
Army and Navy have won the most CSFL Championships in conference history. The Midshipmen claimed 40 league titles with 33 outright, while the Black Knights have won 37 total with 25 outright.
In the last 25 years, Navy has won 13 of 24 CSFL Championships. Army has won eight championships in that span, including a shared title with Penn in 2010. Penn claimed the outright title in 2000 and 2016 with Cornell claiming the league's top prize in 2006. (no championship in 2020 due to COVID)
Scouting the Midshipmen
The Midshipmen improved to 7-0 on the season with a 56-14 victory over Caldwell at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Navy posted a second-half shutout, while erupting for 35 points in the final two quarters in the win.
The offense has accounted for 2,634 yards of total offense with 1,724 yards on the ground and 910 through the air. The Mids are averaging 376.3 yards per game and 6.5 yards per play.
Hunter Gennicks leads the rushing attack with 1,051 yards with 13 rushing touchdowns. The junior is averaging 150.1 yards per game and 7.5 yards per carry. He is followed by
Broderick Freeman who has 311 yards on the ground with a five TDs.
Starting quarterback
Luke O'Connell is 65-for-107 for 851 yards and nine touchdowns, while rushing the ball 23 times for 125 yards and three TDs.
Jake Berger leads the team with 302 receiving yards on a team-high 20 receptions with three touchdowns. He is followed by
Grant Sterchi who has 200 yards receiving with three TD catches. Gennicks has added 63 yards receiving on nine grabs with a pair of TDs, while
Jon Malatesta also adds two receiving TDs.
Defensively, the Mids have held its opponents to 200.1 yards per game and 73 total points (10.4 per game). Navy has recorded 62 tackles for loss with 15 sacks, while picking off 12 passes, breaking up 24 pass attempts, and adding 14 fumble recoveries.

Connor Miltenberger,
Sam Stotler,
Christian Conley lead the team in tackles. Wolinski has a team-high 54 tackles, while Carrasco follows with 35. Miltenberger and Stotler are tied with 34 apiece, while Conley rounds out the top five with 28.
Mick Tabor leads the team with 9.5 TFLs with Stotler and Wolinski adding 8.0 and 7.0 tackles for loss, respectively. Tabor has a team-high 3.5 sacks with Tyler Meisenzhal following with 3.0 sacks and Miltenberger adding 1.5 sacks.
Owen Erker and
Tucker Opdahl pace the defense with three interceptions apiece with Wolinski adding two INTs. Ten (10) different Mids have forced a fumble with Conley leading the team with three and Tabor and
Gabriel Arriola following with two apiece. Eleven (11) Navy players have picked up fumble recoveries, including Tabor who leads the team with three fumble recoveries and Carrasco who follows with two.
Scouting the Opponent
Army enters the game 7-0 on the season.
Offensively, JP Ross and Gabriel Bolivar lead the rushing attack with 388 and 345 yards on the ground, respectively, while Coleman Brooke follows with 103 rushing yards. Quarterback Kyle West leads the team with five rushing touchdowns with Bolivar and Ross following with four and three, correspondingly.
West is 99-for-153 for 1,389 yards and 16 touchdowns with four interceptions through the air, while Jeff Ryder has added five TD passes through the air. Army's primary targets are Parker Williams, Carson McFadden, and Cason Mackie. Williams leads the team with 387 yards receiving with McFadden following with 331 receiving yards. Mackie has a team-high 26 receptions, adding 248 yards. Williams and McFadden led the squad with four TD catches apiece with Mackie and Marek Arbogast adding two each.
Defensively, Louis Petkus and Cameron Allen led the team with 37 and 35 total tackles. Allen has a team-high 12.0 tackles for loss, including a team-best 6.0 sacks. Ryan Hagg has two of Army's five total interceptions, while Trey Batson has a team-high six pass breakups. Three Black Knights have forced fumbles with five Army players recovering fumbles.
Athlete of the Week (Nov. 11, 2025)
The CSFL announced its weekly accolades and Navy placekicker
Jacori Sutton was recognized for his efforts in the Mids' 56-14 victory over Caldwell, being tabbed the Special Teams Player of the Week.
Sutton was a perfect 8-for-8 on extra-point attempts, finishing with eight points on the night. Additionally, the sophomore tallied 409 yards on eight kickoffs (51.1 average) with one touchback. Following Navy's opening touchdown, Sutton successfully recovered an on-side kick to give the Midshipmen the ball back.
Last Time vs. Army (Nov. 16, 2024 – CSFL Championship Game)
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Navy dropped a 21-16 decision to Army at Shea Stadium in West Point, N.Y. in the Collegiate Sprint Football League Championship. The loss snapped the Mids' streak of three consecutive CSFL Championship victories.
Navy finished the game with 318 yards of total offense, while holding Army to 235 total yards. The Midshipmen edged the Black Knights, 139-to-131, in rushing, while posting 179 yards through the air compared to the home team's 104 passing yards.
Senior offensive team captain and starting quarterback
Luke Wagner led the team with 67 yards rushing, while finishing the game 17-for-35 for 156 yards through the air. He connected on a pair of touchdown throws to
Chris Stumpf and
Biamungu Nkere, but was hampered by a pair of interceptions.
Stumpf led the receiving corps with four catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. Nkere and
Hunter Gennicks each hauled in four passes with Nkere finishing with 42 yards and a score and Gennicks closing out the game with 31 yards receiving.
Gennicks joined Wagner atop the Navy rushing list. The sophomore finished with 64 yards rushing on a team-high 20 carries.
Ibi Denson and
Broderick Freeman combined for eight yards on four total carries.
Defensively, the Midshipmen finished with five tackles for loss, one sack, and two pass breakups.
Sam Stotler led the charge with 11 tackles, including seven solo stops and a tackle for loss.
Tyler Cox contributed six tackles with Jack Wolinski following with five take downs. Senior defensive captain

Major Kent, and
Tucker Opdahl joined Stotler with a TFL apiece, while
David Niski and
Mick Tabor combined for tackles for loss. Bailey and Niski combined for the Mids' sack of the Black Knight quarterback and
Angelo Pearson was credited with a pair of pass breakups.
Army's Kyle West finished the game 8-for-16 for 104 yards passing, while Arthur Lavalais led the Black Knights with 98 yards rushing and all three touchdowns. Weber Karsay and Zion Sims finished with 14 and 11 tackles, respectively, with Sims recording two tackles for loss and Karsay adding a TFL. Army's defense added 10 pass breakups and intercepted a pair of passes on the day.
In the kicking game, freshman
Jacori Sutton set a new career-best mark, connecting on a 48-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter to give the Mids a brief 10-7 lead.
