Navy Indoor Invitational to Jumpstart 2025-26 Season

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Navy track and field teams open the 2025-26 season playing host to the Navy Indoor Invitational on Saturday at Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis, Md. Field events begin at 9 a.m., while track events start at 11:45 a.m. The meet will have no team scoring.

Notes for Traveling Fans
  • Vehicular access to the Naval Academy is limited to drivers with a Department of Defense identification card.
  • All other visitors must park outside of the Naval Academy grounds and walk through the security gates at Gate 1 and must present a real I.D. or passport, or take the complimentary shuttles from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis, Md., 21401). Visitors 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Shuttles will run from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
  • Enter the blue/west parking lot through Gate 5 off Taylor Avenue. Parking costs $10.

Meet the Captains
Nathan Kent and Jia Anderson were selected by their peers to serve as team captains for the indoor season.
 
Kent was named the Patriot League Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Meet and scored the most points at the league championship for the second-straight season in 2025. He repeated as the individual champion in both the 200m (20.98) and 400m (46.93), while helping the 4x400m relay (3:11.39) to a championship with the fourth-fastest time in school history. Kent is a member of the football team and is gearing up for the Army–Navy game on Saturday, Dec. 13, before joining the track and field squad.
 
Anderson claimed her third-straight 60m hurdles title at the league championship last season with a time of 8.53. She clocked the fourth-best 60m hurdles time in program history at last year's Navy Indoor Invitational (8.47).
 
2024-25 Indoor Season Recap
Navy swept Army in the indoor Star Meet for the sixth-consecutive season last February in West Point. The men's squad posted a 99–82 victory, while the women's team recorded a 94–87 win over the Black Knights.
 
The men's team claimed its fifth-straight indoor Patriot League title and won eight of the 18 events. The women's team finished second at the league championship, winning five of the 18 events.
 
All-League Indoor Returners
Navy's­ Director of Track and Field Jamie Cook returns 15 athletes who garnered all-league recognition at last season's Patriot League Indoor Championship.
 
The men's squad returns five first-team all-league athletes from last season — Dane Eike (4x800m relay), Kent (200m, 400m, 4x800m relay), Matt Newell (4x800m relay, distance medley relay), David Walker (distance medley relay) and Tyler Yurich (60m) — along with three second-team honorees – Jonah Johnson (60m, 200m), Gunnar Kimball (pole vault) and Sheldon Ulmer (high jump).
 
On the women's side, six Patriot League champions from 2025 return – Anderson (60m hurdles), Gracie Emerick (pole vault), Kate Leddy (distance medley relay), Sophia Richter (4x400m relay), Elektra Sanchez (distance medley relay) and Savannah Swanda (4x400m relay). Julia Blake (4x800m relay) is the team's lone second-team all-league returner.
