Mids to Close out Regular Season with Match Against #22 Chatham

The 20th-ranked Navy squash team (16-9) will play its final regular-season match of the season when the Mids play host to #22 Chatham (3-4) Saturday afternoon at the Prager Family Squash Facility in Annapolis. Action is slated to begin at 1:00 pm.

Sunday's match will be the final home competition for seniors Lucas Spiro and Matt Wang, who have factored into the Mids' lineup their entire four years. Wang, who has played primarily the #1 position (37-34) on the ladder during his career but also saw time at #2 (13-2) and #3 (16-8), enters the weekend with a 70-49 career mark. Last weekend, Wang became only the 12th player in school history to reach the 70-win milestone, as his 70 wins stand alone as the 12th most in program history. Wang is a two-time First-Team All-MidAtlantic Squash Conference selection.

Spiro, the Mids' team captain, has also enjoyed success during his four seasons, posting a 57-56 mark. He is just two wins shy of joining Navy's all-time top 25 wins list and three shy of becoming the 25th player to achieve 60 wins. Spiro has spent time between the #2 and #6 positions, but has settled in at #4 (23-16) for the majority of his matches.

Both players have been excellent in the classroom. Wang, a mathematics with economics major, is a two-time member of the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference All-Academic Team and owns a 3.51 grade-point average. His service assignment upon graduation is submarines. Spiro, meanwhile, is a three-time member of the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference All-Academic Team. A Trident scholar, he owns a 3.96 GPA in astrophysics and ranks 36th among the Class of 2025. His service assignment is Navy pilot.
