ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Men's basketball player Austin Benigni has been named this week's Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Northrop Grumman.

Benigni averaged 27.0 points per game in leading the Mids to a pair of Patriot League Tournament victories last week and a berth in Wednesday's championship game.

He first scored 30 points in the team's 86-78 win at fourth-seed Boston U., then tallied 24 points Sunday in an 83-77 win over top-seeded Bucknell.

Benigni was 20-22 from the foul line against the Bison and 34-38 from the charity stripe on the week.  He also dished out six assists against the Terriers and seven against Bucknell.

The fifth-seeded Mids will play at second-seeded American Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Bender Arena.  The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.  Radio broadcasts will be available locally on WNAV and nationally on Westwood One, Sirius 119 and XM 203.
