Duncan Concludes Competition at 2025 NCAA Rifle Championship

Marleigh Duncan competed at the NCAA Rifle Championships four times during her Navy career.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Navy senior Marleigh Duncan concluded competition at the 2025 NCAA Rifle Championship on Friday inside Historic Memorial Coliseum on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Ky. Duncan, who qualified as an individual in smallbore, shot a score of 579 at the NCAA Championship.

The Wake Forest, N.C. native started the day with 20 shots in the kneeling position. Duncan scored 10-shot rounds of 99 and 99 for a 198 (out of a possible 200) in kneeling. The senior moved into prone (shooting from a lying position) where she amassed a tally of 193 (97, 96). In the standing position, Duncan posted totals of 95 and 93 for a 188, which combined with her kneeling and prone gave her a final tally of 579.

"Marleigh did a great job in her last collegiate match," head coach Mike Anti said of his senior. "I am very proud of her. An athlete's last competition in their collegiate career is always an emotional event and Marleigh handled it like the champion she is. It has been a complete honor to have her on the team these past four years and to see her grow as an athlete and future Naval Officer. She is without a doubt one of the best, if not the best, rifle athletes in program history. She is a multiple NCAA All-American, Conference Champion, four-year NCAA Championship qualifier with four Star victories over Army, leading the team in three of the four wins. Truly an amazing career.

"We are going to miss all of our graduating seniors – Marleigh Duncan, team captain Stephanie Milvain, and Joshua Potts," Anti added. "All have contributed significantly to the success of our program over the past year. I wish I had them all for another four years. They will be difficult to replace."

One of the top Navy shooters throughout the season, Duncan registered the second highest average in smallbore (586.1) on the team. The senior led the way for the Mids in the NCAA Qualifier against John Jay, recording a top aggregate score of 1182 thanks to a 587-smallbore performance and a 595-air rifle tally. Duncan registered a season-high 590 in smallbore at Ohio State, while holding a career-best in the discipline of 592.

The 2025 NCAA Rifle Championship marked the fourth time in her career that Duncan competed in the NCAA Tournament. She competed as part of the Navy teams that qualified in 2022 and 2024, while taking part as an individual in 2023 and 2025.
