WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Navy women's rugby team posted a 3-1 record and finished in second place at the West Chester 7s Tournament on Sunday in West Chester, Pa. The Mids defeated West Chester (25-12), West Chester's Gold Team (50-0) and Princeton (17-10) before falling to the Golden Rams in the finals (21-17).
"It was a good day of 7s rugby. It hurts to reach the championship match and come up short, but hats off to West Chester," said head coach
Murph McCarthy. "I'm proud of the way the team fought in the gritty victory against Princeton after an early 10-0 deficit. Our defense was able to buckle down after the early scores while our patient attack ran in three tries to advance in the tournament."
