FROSTBURG, Md. – The Navy women's rugby team closed out the regular season by putting together a 2-1 record at the Frostburg 7s Tournament Sunday in Frostburg, Md. The Mids opened the day by defeating Mount St. Mary's No. 2 team 38-0, before falling to Wheeling 26-19. Navy finished the afternoon on a high note by scoring a 24-7 victory over Mount St. Mary's.
"It was a great trip to Frostburg today for a well-run tournament. I am proud of the team as today was a gritty performance across the board," said Navy women's rugby head coach

Navy 38, Mount St. Mary's No. 2 Team 0
Navy opened the tournament with an offensive explosion as three Mids scored tries in the first half.
Arica Spencer kicked things off with a try 1:40 into the match.
Mia Young scored her sixth try of the season in the sixth minute before
Kyndall Wyngaard ran in a try to end the half.
Navy's scoring onslaught continued in the second half with another three scores highlighted by Wyngaard's second try in the eighth minute.

Miracle Haynes got in on the scoring frenzy as she scored her second try this spring in the 13th minute.
Young led the team with 11 total points on three conversion kicks and a try.
Wheeling 26, Navy 19
Wheeling's offense was clicking on all cylinders with four first-half tries to take a 26-0 lead going into halftime.
The Mids' offense found its rhythm in the second half with three tries in an effort to rally.
Ella Callahan broke through the Cardinals' defense in the ninth minute for the Mids' first score to make the match 26-7.
Young tallied her second try of the tournament in the 11th minute to make the score 26-12.
Wyngaard ran in Navy's final try of the match in the 14th minute and
Hannah Brink added the final-two points to narrow the deficit to seven in the final scoring column.
Navy 24, Mount St. Mary's 7
The Mids scored three tries in a dominant first-half performance against the Mount to take a 19-0 lead after the first seven minutes.
Ayiana Olavarria scored her first try this spring just 34 seconds into the match.
Analise Murphy also scored her first try this 7s season in the fourth minute to make the score 14-0.
Hannah Brink ran in her fourth try this spring in the seventh minute to extend Navy's lead to 19.
Phoebe Soberano broke through the Mountaineers' defense in the 12th minute for her first try this season to give Navy a 24-0 advantage.
The Mount battled to the end with a try in the final seconds to end the match.
Navy will shift its focus to the 7s Collegiate Rugby Championship in Germantown, Md., at the Maryland SportsPlex on April 25-26.
