Opening Kick
•    Navy (1-0) and UAB (1-0) will open American Conference action when the two square off on CBS Sports Network on Saturday afternoon (3:30 PM) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. The contest is presented by HII.
•    Saturday's game marks just the third meeting between the two programs in series history. Navy won last year's game in Birmingham 41-18. Navy also won the last meeting in Annapolis, 31-6, in 2023.
•    Navy will start the year playing 4 of its first-5 and 5 of its first-7 games at home. The Mids will finish the year with 4 of its final-5 games away from Annapolis.
•     The last five times Navy has won the season opener, the Mids have gone on to play in a bowl game. The 2025 team will try and make it 6-for-6 as the Mids defeated VMI in last weekend's season opener 52-7. Navy's 52 points against VMI are the most points scored in a season opener since 2016 when the Mids knocked off Fordham 52-16.
•    The Mids have won back-to-back season openers for the first time since 2016-17.
•    Navy's 45-point win against VMI was Navy's largest margin of victory in a season opener since 1945 when the Mids beat Villanova 49-0. That 1945 team went on to a 7-1-1 record.
•    Navy's 10 first time starters in the opener were tied with Fresno State for the most in the country.
•    Navy allowed just 15 yards rushing against VMI on 22 carries. It marked the 7th fewest since 1995 and the fewest since 2022 when Navy gave up 13 yards rushing against Delaware.
•    Navy has won 73-consecutive games at home when leading after 3 quarters, the nation's longest streak. The last time Navy lost at home when leading after 3 quarters was Oct. 23, 1999, when the Mids led Akron 29-13 and lost 35-29.
•    Navy finished #1 in the country in red zone touchdown percentage in 2024, scoring a touchdown 81 percent of the time (34 TDs / 42 att.). Navy started 2025 going 6-for-6 in the red zone against VMI (5 TDs, 1 FG).
•    Navy finished #4 in the country in red zone defense in 2024, giving up just 30 scores (23 TDs, 7 FGs) in 43 attempts. Navy did not allow VMI to reach the end zone in the 2025 season opener.
•    Blake Horvath (Sr. / QB) has thrown just 4 interceptions in 158-career attempts for an interception percentage of .025 per attempt, the 2nd-best average in school history. The Navy record is .017 set by current Navy radio analyst Keenan Reynolds, who threw just 8 interceptions in 462-career attempts.
•    Horvath ranked 6th in the FBS in ESPN's QBR Rating (83.4) in 2024 and is the only player who finished in the top 6 returning in 2025. Horvath did not have enough "action" plays to qualify for a QBR rating in week 1 against VMI as he played just the first half, going 6-7 passing for 66 yards and a touchdown, while rushing twice for 14 yards.
•    Horvath's career 166.5 pass efficiency rating is the highest of any quarterback in Service Academy history with 150 or more attempts. Dating back to 1956, he is one of just 27 quarterbacks in FBS history to have a career passing efficiency of 166.0 or better with 150 or more passing attempts.
•    Horvath and Malcolm Perry (2016-19) are the only two Navy football players to have 2 runs of 90 yards or more in a career.
•    Horvath's average of 7.9 yards per play over his career is the 2nd-best mark in school history. Shun White holds the record at 8.9 (2005-08).
•    Eli Heidenreich's (Sr. / Snipe) 11-career touchdown catches are the 3rd most in school history and he is just two away from tying the school record set by Rob Taylor (1965-67) and Phil McConkey (1975-78). Heidenreich's 1,118 receiving yards are just 119 yards away from Bert Calland (1,237 / 1971-73) for 5th on Navy's all-time list.
•    Either Heidenreich or Alex Tecza (Sr. / RB) have scored a touchdown for Navy in 19 of their 24-career games (they have scored in the same game 6 times). Heidenreich has 16-career touchdowns (5 rush, 11 rec.), while Tecza also has 16 (14rush, 2 rec.). The VMI game was the first time in Heidenreich's career that he caught and rushed for a touchdown in the same game.
•    Braxton Woodson's (Jr. / QB) 180 yards rushing on 7 carries against VMI are the most yards rushing in 7 carries or less since LSU's Clyde Edwards-Helaire ran for 188 yards on 6 carries against Arkansas on Nov. 23, 2019 in a 56-20 LSU win.
