Navy Men’s Golf Set to Open 2025-26 Season at Folds of Honor Collegiate

The Navy men's golf team will travel to Grand Haven, Mich. this week, kicking off the 2025-26 campaign at the fourth-annual Folds of Honor Collegiate. Hosted by the Michigan State and Florida State in association with the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) and Folds of Honor, the three-day, 54-hole event is slated to begin on Monday at the American Dunes Golf Club (par-71 / 7,183 yards). The opening round begins at 12-noon with teams teeing off from the 1st and 10th holes. Navy will be playing alongside Alabama and Kansas in the first two rounds (1:12 pm Monday / 8:42 am Tuesday).

Fans can follow the tournament via live results on Navysports.com and SCOREBOARD powered by Clippd. Additional the Golf Channel will have daily coverage of the tournament that will air from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and then from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Golf Central show will have from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday with a college golf fall preview airing from 8:00 to 8:30 p.m. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Golf Central will air for an hour, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

About the Tournament
• The tournament includes teams from across the country, including all three service academies (Army, Navy, Air Force).
• Proceeds from the event will benefit the Folds of Honor, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit whose mission it is to provide back, through scholarships, to the families of America's fallen or disabled military and first responders. To date, the organization has given out 44,000 scholarships.
• This is the fourth time the Folds of Honor Collegiate has been played ... Illinois won the inaugural tournament (Sept. 26-18, 2022), while Notre Dame claimed the 2023 title team title (Sept. 4-6, 2023) ... Alabama cruised to the team title a year ago with a 12-under par 840 (275-288-277), winning by 7 strokes over the runner-up Illinois.
• This year's field includes 19 teams that were represented at the 2025 NCAA Regionals, eight that advanced to the NCAA Championships, and 13 that ended the Spring ranked in the top 30 in the country.
• The teams that qualified for their 2025 NCAA Division I or II Regional are led by 2025 NCAA Championship qualifiers Florida State (men & women), Michigan State (men & women), Kansas (men & women), California (men), Florida A&M (men), Baylor (women), North Carolina (women), Ohio State (women), Texas A&M (women), Naval Academy (women), Grand Valley State (Division II men), and Findlay (Division II women). Also making the NCAA Regionals were defending Folds of Honor Collegiate team champions Alabama (men) and Arizona (women), as well as Notre Dame (men), winners of the 2023 Collegiate.

The Course
• American Dunes Golf Club, known as "the church Jack built," is a living memorial for the sacrifices made by America's service men and women that will see the legendary Jack Nicklaus himself in attendance.
• The facility, which is located a few hundred yards from the east shore of Lake Michigan, is a dunes-like course, utilizing the dramatic local topography and sand base that covers the property.

More on the Mids
• Navy will be represented by a trio of seniors, including team captain Jack Tarzy who owns a 74.12 average over his first-three seasons. Tarzy owned the team's second-lowest average (73.81) a year ago and placed among the top 10 in three tournaments. Meanwhile, Chip Deegan garnered PING All-Region and All-Patriot League recognition a year ago after posting a team-low 73.14 stroke average. He placed among the top 5 in a pair of tournaments. Additionally, he was the Mids top performer in six of the 10 tournaments and five of the six during the spring season. Derek Weaver will make his first appearance at the Folds of Honor Collegiate and is coming off a season that saw him average 74.50.
• Navy will also have two freshmen making their collegiate debut - Hudson Mitchell and Josh Durthaler.
