BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Navy track and field team had four members —
Zoie Tesi,
Sophia Richter,
Justin Mumford and
Ben Marks — earn Patriot League weekly awards, the league announced Tuesday. Tesi was named the Women's Field Athlete of the Week, Richter and Mumford earned Track Athlete of the Week honors and Marks garnered his first collegiate accolade as the Men's Rookie of the Week.
Tesi highlighted the dual meet against Princeton by winning both the high jump and the triple jump. The Gloversville, N.Y., native etched her name into the record books by setting a school record in the high jump with a clearance of 1.78 meters (5 feet, 10 inches). She surpassed the previous mark of 1.77 meters (5-8.75) set by Hannah Lowenstein in 2023. Tesi also captured the triple jump for a second-consecutive meet, recording a leap of 11.89 meters (39-0.25) on her final attempt.
Richter led the Mids in the 400 meters with a winning time of 55.14. She also helped the 4x400-meter relay team get off to a fast start, as the quartet finished second in 3:51.02.
Mumford won the 3,000 meters after moving into the lead at the 2,000-meter mark, finishing in 8:06.32.
Marks captured the 800 meters against the Tigers with a time of 1:53.67. He was also the third leg of the winning 4x800-meter relay team with a time of 7:49.98, which tied the meet at 89-89.
The Mids will host their third-straight home meet next week with the two-day Wesley A. Brown Invitational on Jan. 16–17 at the Wesley A. Brown Field House. The multi-events begin Friday at 4 p.m. and conclude Saturday. All other events will be held Saturday, with field events starting at 9:30 a.m. and track events beginning at noon.
