Action will get underway Saturday with the smallbore competition, followed by the air rifle portion of the championship taking place on Sunday.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy rifle team (15-4) returns to action this weekend as the team travels to West Point, N.Y. to take part in the annual Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) Championship hosted by Army at the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center.

Action will get underway Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with the smallbore competition, followed by an 8:30 a.m. start on Sunday for the air rifle portion of the championship. Free live results for both days of competition will be available via NavySports.com.

GARC Championship History
A member of the GARC since the 2014-15 season, the Mids' top aggregate finish came in 2018 and 2025, finishing third overall. Last season, Navy finished third in smallbore and fourth in air rifle to match its best finish of third overall at the GARC Championship.

Navy saw its best finishes at the smallbore portion of the championship come during the 2017, 2020, and 2025 seasons with a trio of third-place marks.

In air rifle competition, the Midshipmen tied for third place in 2022 for their best finish in the discipline at the event.

The Field
Joining the Midshipmen among the GARC Championship field will be fellow conference members Akron, Army, Kentucky, Memphis, and West Virginia.

NCAA Championship Bound
The Navy rifle team was selected as one of eight teams that will compete at the upcoming NCAA Rifle National Championship. Hosted by Ohio State University, the championships will be held March 13-14 on campus at Converse Hall in Columbus, Ohio.

Selection in the NCAA Championship marks the fifth time in the last eight seasons that the Midshipmen have qualified for the national championship. Navy, who has qualified for the NCAA Championship 31 times, will make its 30th appearance. The Midshipmen qualified as a team in 2020, but the championship was canceled due to COVID-19. Navy's 30 appearances rank fifth in NCAA history behind West Virginia (42), Alaska Fairbanks (39), Murray State (36), and Kentucky (31).

The top eight teams in both the smallbore and air rifle events were selected based on the average of the three highest regular-season aggregate scores with no more than one match at any given site. The average of the three highest scores was added to the aggregate scores from the designated qualifiers to determine the top eight teams – Alaska Fairbanks, Georgia Southern, Kentucky, Navy, Nebraska, Ole Miss, TCU, and West Virginia.

A total of 48 competitors will compete in the championships, with 40 competitors coming from the top eight teams selected. The remaining eight competitors were selected based on the scores submitted from the designated qualifier. Individual qualifiers for smallbore included Addison Antwiler (Army), Katrina Demerle (Memphis), Carlotta Salafia (Murray State), Lea Soulé (Murray State), while individual air rifle qualifiers were Lily Wytko (Air Force), Caroline Martin (Murray State), Lily Miller (Air Force), and Kameron Wells (UTEP). Alternates included Riley Dunn (Ohio State) and Alexander Pohlman (VMI) for smallbore with Abby Ballard (Murray State) and Carlee Valenta (UTEP) for air rifle.

Individual and team competitions in smallbore (60 shots) will be held Friday, March 13, and individual and team competitions in air rifle (60 shots) will be held Saturday, March 14. The overall team champion will be determined by combining the smallbore and air rifle team total scores into one aggregate score for each institution.
