Navy
The Mids dropped matches last Friday to Drexel (4-3) and William & Mary (7-0) and then defeated Bryant by scores of 4-2 and 4-3 in a Sunday doubleheader.
Jason Kim was the only Mid to win both of his singles matches last week. Kim won straight-set matches at the No. 6 flight against the Dragons and the No. 5 flight against the Bulldogs. The victories raised his record to 8-2 this season, leaving him just behind the team-high 9-2 record posted by
Aniketh Ayinala.
Long Island
The Sharks have played only two matches thus far this season. Long Island opened the year with a 5-2 win over Siena and then lost a 4-0 match to Army.
The team finished the 2025 spring season with an overall record of 10-12, which included a 5-3 record against Northeast Conference opponents. Long Island received the third seed in the 2025 NEC Tournament. The Sharks advanced to the championship match of the event where they lost to fourth-seeded Binghamton by the score of 4-2.
Navy holds a 2-1 lead in the brief series between the two teams, which began in 2023 a few years after LIU Brooklyn and LIU Post combined to create a single Long Island University in 2019. The Mids won a 6-1 match last season.
Richmond
The Spiders have lost matches this season to Liberty (7-0), Old Dominion (6-1), VCU (5-2), Longwood (5-2) and Brown (4-1).
Richmond posted an overall record of 12-9 a year ago and tallied a 4-2 record in Atlantic 10 Conference matches. The third-seeded Spiders lost 4-2 to second-seeded VCU in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
The Navy-Richmond series dates back to the 1973-74 academic year. Navy leads the series by the count of 28-15.
The teams have met in every season but two (2009, 2011) since 2000. The match has had the final score of 4-3 in seven of the 15 matches played since 2012. The Mids tallied a 6-1 victory in last year's meeting.
