Benigni Earns All-District Honors

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Navy's Austin Benigni has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District Team, the NABC announced today.  Benigni was named to the East district's 10-player second team as he joined players from such schools as Virginia, Liberty, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and Miami (Ohio) in being recognized by the organization.

Benigni is the first Mid to earn the laurel since Cam Davis garnered a first-team nod in 2021.

The 2026 Patriot League Player and Scholar-Athlete of the Year ranks second in the Patriot League in points (18.0 ppg), three-point field goal percentage (44.4%) and minutes played (36:04), fourth in assists (4.4 apg) and is tied for 10th with an average of 1.8 three-point field goals made a game.  Benigni scored in double figures in 31 of Navy's 33 games and reached 20 points in 14 games.

The Mids enter a Wednesday night (7 p.m., ESPNU) NIT first-round game at Wake Forest with an overall record of 26-7 and the outright winners of the Patriot League regular season with a 17-1 record.  It is Navy's first postseason berth since 1998 and the program's first trip to the NIT since 1962.
