BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Navy men's track & field team had five student-athletes —
Logan Flament,
Justin Mumford,
Brian Schloeder,
Jamison Scott and
Cooper Wakley — named to the Patriot League All-Academic Team, as announced by the league on Wednesday.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must attain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average at their respective school and be a starter or key contributor in their sport. Freshmen and students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Flament has compiled a 3.99 GPA in electrical engineering. He has received academic honors in all five of his completed semesters at the Academy.
Flament helped Navy secure its Patriot League-record 16th indoor title in program history after reaching the podium with a third-place finish in the 5,000 meters (14:05.73) and placing fourth in the 3,000 meters (8:08.44).
Mumford, an aeronautical engineering major, boasts a 3.94 GPA. The New Baden, Ill., native has earned academic honors in all seven of his completed semesters at the Academy, including three selections to the dean's list.
Mumford led Navy's distance squad at the Patriot League Indoor Championship, winning the 5,000 meters in 14:02.61. His time ranks ninth in school history. He also placed fifth in the 3,000 meters (8:10.49).
Schloeder, a quantitative economics major with a 3.83 GPA, has earned academic honors in all three of his completed semesters, including one selection to the dean's list.
Schloeder led a Navy sweep in the pole vault at the league championship, clearing a career-best 5.25 meters (17 feet, 2.75 inches) to win the event. The mark ties for the fourth-best performance in school history.
Scott, a robotics and control engineering major, has received academic honors in each of his three completed semesters at the Academy.
At the league championship, Scott placed fourth in the heptathlon, highlighted by a second-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 12.81 meters (42-0.50).
A member of the dean's list, Wakley has earned academic honors in three completed semesters. The nuclear engineering major carries a 3.65 GPA.
Wakley earned the bronze medal in the pole vault (4.95 meters / 16-2.75) and also finished fifth in the heptathlon (4,832 points) at the league championship.
