GALLOWAY, N.J. // The Navy men's golf team opened play at the 12-team, 54-hole Wildcat Invitational on Monday where the Mids stand firmly in third place with a 25-over par 593. Navy trails Villanova who shot a 1-under par 283 in the afternoon to leapfrog to the top of the standings with a 16-over par 584. Georgetown, meanwhile, is sandwiched between the Villanova and Navy with a 19-over par 587.
Seniors
Jack Tarzy (Medford, N.J.) and
Chip Deegan (Newport Beach, Calif.) are well within striking distance of the leader with one round to go. Tarzy put together a 4-over par 146, including a 1-over par 72 in the second round, to close out the day in fourth, just 2 strokes back from the leader, Villanova's Ryan Pamer. Meanwhile, Deegan is in a four-way tie for fourth with a 5-over par 147. He opened the day 1-over, but shot a 4-over par 75 in the afternoon round to slide back to fourth.
Rookie
Sebastian Alonzo (Azusa, Calif.) currently resides inside of the top 20 with a 7-over par 149 (74-75), while
Hudson Mitchell is just 2 strokes back in 26th with a 9-over par 151 (76-75).
Danny Auffant (Jr / Bellevue, Wash.) rounds out the lineup in 55th with a 17-over par 159 (81-78). Meanwhile,
Josh Durthaler (Fr / Dunwoody, Ga.), who is playing as an individual, is tied for 53rd with a 16-over par 158 (83-75).
Play will resume Tuesday with a 9:00 am shotgun start to begin the final 18 holes.
