ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Navy (7-0) won 10 events, including five of the six field events, to take first place at a three-team men's track and field meet at the Wesley A. Brown Field House on Saturday. Navy amassed 157 team points to down visiting Temple (94) and Delaware State (84). The Mids also posted five IC4A Championship qualifying performances across four events.

"We did what we wanted to do at this meet," head coach Stephen Cooksey said. "We asked most of our guys to just focus on one event rather than doubling or tripling today and we were able to get some pretty good performances. Now we will look ahead to the Wesley Brown Invitational next week and will keep getting our guys ready for Army (Feb. 3)."

Freshman Jiles Maness cleared the IC4A standard of 15-9 (4.80m) to win the pole vault and junior Kyle Fortney won the weight throw with an IC4A mark of 55-10½ (17.03m).

Freshman Steve Schroeder won the 3,000m at 8:19.08, and qualified for the IC4A Championship in the event along with senior Christopher Galvin, who clocked an 8:22.70. Freshman Austin Batiste won the 200m dash and posted yet another IC4A-qualifying time, crossing at 22.15.

Other event winners for Navy on the track included sophomore Joshua Kingsland in the 500m (1:05.58), senior Joshua Shaw in the 800m (1:55.44) and senior Mitch Simmonds in the 60m hurdles (8.32).

In addition to capturing the pole vault and weight throw, Navy won three of the other four field events. Senior Rand Montermini won the high jump (6-4½/1.94m), freshman Jeremy Granderson won the long jump (22-4½/6.82m) and junior Zack Duncavage won the shot put at 49-5½ (15.07m). Duncavage also placed second in the weight throw at 54-8 (16.66m).

Sophomore Kyle Davis (2:29.97) placed second in the 1,000m run, right behind his twin brother Cullen Davis (Temple) at 2:29.67.

Freshman Jordan Sartor-Francis was second in the 60m dash (7.09) and second in the 200m (22.40).

Navy's 4x400m relay team of Jeremy Duruji, Ron Vaughn, Adam Vetere and Mark Vetere placed second at 3:23.61 and the 4x800m relay team of Ryan Pajor, Greg Bohmke, Tom Moore and Thomas Delaney was second at 8:10.70.

Navy will host the annual Wesley Brown Invitational next Saturday at 11:00 AM in its fourth and final home meet of the indoor track and field season.
