ANNAPOLIS, Md. â€"â€" The Navy swimming and diving teams will play host to a combined men's and women's dual meet six times during the 2015-16 regular season as well as the Patriot League, ECAC and NCAA Zone A Diving championship meets. The busy home slate was announced today as part of the complete 2015-16 schedule for the two squads.
The men and women's teams will play host to East Carolina and Old Dominion (Oct. 10), American, Bucknell and Lafayette (Nov. 7), Army (Dec. 10), Loyola (Jan. 22), Penn State (Jan. 23) and John Hopkins (Jan. 27) this season. Additionally, the Navy men's team also will face both Princeton (Oct. 24) and Columbia (Jan. 29) in Lejeune Hall.
Both programs will start the year by taking part in open water meets on Sept. 12. The women's team will compete in the Pier-to-Pier Swim in Wrightsville Beach that day, while the men's team will stay in Annapolis for the Open Water Swim. The teams then open the dual meet campaign by competing at George Mason on Oct. 9 in what is the first of only three road dual meets for the programs this season. The remaining two feature the Mids competing at UMBC on Oct. 16 and North Carolina on Jan. 9.
Each team also is entered into a three-day meet in late November. The women's team will return to the Frank Elm Invite at Rutgers Nov. 19-21, with the Navy men slated to once again take part in the Nike Cup in Chapel Hill, N.C., from Nov. 20-22.
The Patriot League Championship â€"â€" which the Navy men's team has won in each of the last 12 years and has been won by the Navy women's team in each of the last four and in five of the last six seasons â€"â€" will be contested Feb. 17-20 in Lejeune Hall, the ECAC Championship follows in the venue the next weekend (Feb. 26-28) and the NCAA Zone A Diving Championship will be held March 7-9 in Annapolis.
Georgia Tech will be playing host to both NCAA Championship meets this year, with the women's event being held March 17-19 and the men's championship taking place March 24-26.
