The third annual CSFL Championship game will take place on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:00 p.m. at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – For the second consecutive year, the Collegiate Sprint Football League Championship will pit the South Division champion Navy Midshipmen (7-0, 4-0 South) against the North Division champion Army West Point Black Knights (6-1, 4-0 North). The third annual CSFL Championship game will take place on Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:00 p.m. at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Live stats and live video will be available.

CSFL Championship
In 2017, the Collegiate Sprint Football League split into two divisions and established a championship game, pitting the divisional champions against one another. Navy fell to Penn (L, 28-23) to miss out on the inaugural title game, but advanced to the 2018 championship, defeating Army, 24-10, to claim the overall league championship. The 2019 championship once again features the Army-Navy rivalry.

All-Time Series
Navy holds the all-time series record, 44-36-1 (.549), including an 11-6 (.647) mark in neutral site games against Army West Point.

Earlier this year, the Midshipmen posted a 14-7 come-from-behind victory over the Black Knights. The Mids trailed 7-0 at halftime, but used lock-down defense and a pair of scores, including a pick six, to post the victory. The win was the first Star victory of the season for Navy in the annual Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA.

Last season, the Black Knights edged the Midshipmen, 17-14, in the Star game in Annapolis. Navy was able to get some revenge on its rivals, by claiming the 2018 Collegiate Sprint Football League Championship.

Navy posted a 24-10 victory over rival Army West Point to claim the CSFL title in the second annual Championship Game, played at the Torne Valley Sports Complex in Hillburn, N.Y. In the game, Navy outgained Army West Point, 361-287, including a 289-16 advantage on the ground. Defensively, the Midshipmen tallied 53 total tackles, including 5.0 tackles for loss, and 3.0 sacks. The defense broke up 12 passes, recorded an interception, and blocked a punt.

Last Time Out
Navy posted a 49-0 shutout victory over Collegiate Sprint Football League newcomer Alderson Broaddus at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The game served as Senior Day for the team's 14 seniors.

Defensively, Navy posted its first shutout of the season. The Mids' defense came up big to keep Alderson Broaddus out of the end zone. The Midshipmen forced six punts, while forcing a pair of fumbles, intercepting five passes. Five different players – senior Troy Monroe (Columbus, Ga.), senior Pat Guinan (Elmhurst, Ill.), Adam Jennings (Scituate, Mass.), Tom Jacobsen (San Francisco, Calif.), and Lane Condie (Lovelock, Nev.) – picked off Alderson Broaddus passes. Justin Newell (Chesapeake, Va.) picked up a Battler fumble and returned it 25 yards for a touchdown. Jack Thomas (Darnestown, Md.) also picked up a fumble recovery on the night.

Newell added a touchdown catch for his second score of the night.

Senior Jared Swenson (Seymour, Wis.) scored 11 points in the game, splitting the uprights with a pair of field goals and adding five extra points.

Last Time vs. Army West Point (Sept. 20, 2019)
Navy captured the first Star of the 2019-20 campaign as the Midshipmen posted a 14-7 victory over Army West Point at Shea Stadium in West Point, N.Y. as part of the Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA. The Mids trailed 7-0 at halftime, but used lock-down defense and a pair of scores, including a pick six, to post the victory.

Defensively, Navy held Army to 290 total yards, including 219 passing yards and 71 rushing yards. The Midshipmen recorded four interceptions – all in the second half – and caused a pair of fumbles. In addition, the Mids' defense caused seven pass break ups and tallied 25 yards lost on 4.0 sacks.

In the second half, the Navy defense was a thorn in the Army West Point side. The Midshipmen caused five turnovers – four interceptions and a fumble – and two three-and-outs on the Black Knights' seven possessions in the second half.

Troy Monroe (Columbus, Ga.) paced the team with 12 total tackles, including eight solo stops. He registered four tackles for loss (42 yards), including a pair of sacks (22 yards). Monroe was joined by David Postma (Bellevue, Wash.) who added eight tackles, and an interception returned for a touchdown. Tied 7-7, Postma scored his second defensive score of the year as he intercepted an Army pass and returned it 14 yards for the game-winning score. Postma was joined by Pat Guinan (Elmhurst, Ill.), Grant Hooper (Huntingtown, Md.), and Adam Weissenfels (Richland, Wash.) who each recorded second-half interceptions to end Black Knight drives and help secure the win.

Offensively, the Midshipmen struggled to find a rhythm tallying just 123 total yards. The Mids rushed for 56 yards, while throwing for 67. Caleb Champion (Milton, Fla.) and Braydan Chmiel (Warrenton, Mo.) led the way with 20 yards apiece on the ground. Chmiel finished 4-for-12 for 67 yards and a touchdown passing. The touchdown came as Chmiel hit Ramesh Nagarajah (Boston, Mass.) in the backside of the end zone to tie the game early in the third quarter.
