CHARLESTON, S.C. – Navy offshore sailing sent a crew to the Southern Collegiate Offshore Regatta in Charleston, S.C., where the Midshipmen finished first in their class and also captured the overall title.

Don Poirier led his crew to first place in the nine-race series. Conditions on Saturday were windy and cold making for some exciting and challenging races. Sunday's conditions featured a little warmer conditions with a little less wind, but the day finished with rain.

Navy's scores at the two-day regatta, were 2,2,4,1,3,1,1 placing them three and a half points ahead of local crew, College of Charleston.Â

Next up, the Midshipmen travel to San Pedro, Calif., for the Harbor Cup on March 6-8.
