ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Following the unforeseen conclusion to the 2019-20 seasons, our Sunday Salute series continues this week with Navy intercollegiate sailing.

During the 2019-20 season, the Midshipmen captured a pair of home victories during the fall portion of their schedule after winning the Navy Women's Fall Regatta and the Truxtun Umstead Coed Showcase. Navy also racked up six top-five finishes and eight top-10 finishes in the fall.

In the spring portion of the season, the Midshipmen competed in seven scored regattas where they finished in the top 10 during each event and posted six top-five finishes. Navy bookended the spring season with a pair of runner-up finishes after placing second at the St. Mary's Team Race and the George Washington Team Race.

At the end of the 2019-20 season, the Midshipmen placed eight individuals on the All-MAISA Teams.
JC Hermus and
Parker Loftus were each selected to the First Team All-MAISA Coed Skipper with Hermus also being one of the finalists for MAISA Sailor of the Year.
Olivia de Olazarra and
Brittney Slook were selected to the All-MAISA Women's Skipper First Team.Â

Connor Bayless earned Second Team All-MAISA Coed Skipper while
Sally Johnson,
Kimmie Leonard and
Fiona Lobon earned All-MAISA Crew honors.

Navy's senior class of
Max Brill,
Anna Cutler,
Nicholas Gartner, Loftus,
Emma Remis and Slook helped the Midshipmen to the spring team national championship in their first three seasons. During the 2018-19 season, Navy placed third in the ICSA Coed National Championship and captured the MAISA Coed America Trophy for the first time since 1995.
