Box Score ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– Navy's
Conners O'Brien (Sr., Rensselaer, N.Y.) won a trio of straight-set singles matches to win his flight at the Navy Gold Invite held this weekend in Annapolis. The three-day tournament that ended Sunday closed the fall schedule for the Mids.
O'Brien defeated Alessandro D'Anna from Long Island, 6-0, 6-2, Trent Massam from Monmouth, 6-2, 6-3, and Aidan Mahoney from Princeton, 6-3, 6-3, to win the E flight.
Jack Dabek (Sr., Dublin, Ohio) posted a 2-1 record in the D flight. His lone loss was a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3) defeat to eventual flight-champion Roy Tabet from Columbia.
Sasha Panyan (So., Lutherville, Md.) split four singles matches in the C flight, with both of his losses coming in three-set decisions including a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (11-9) loss to Pascal Wagemaker from Delaware.
Also putting together 2-1 records were
Jake Fishkin (Sr., Baltimore, Md.) and
Finn Garner (Jr., Arnold, Md.) in the B flight and
Derrick Thompson (Sr., Towson, Md.) in the A flight.
Navy's most successful doubles pairing was the team of Dabek and Fishkin. Competing in group 1 of the A flight, the pair put together a 2-1 record with its lone loss being a 7-6 (7-2) defeat to the Delaware tandem of Pierce Gilheany and Wagemaker
