Jacob Allen (125 / Sr / Poway, Calif.),
Josh Koderhandt (133 / Fr / Belleville, Ill.) and
Andrew Cerniglia (157 / So / Nazareth, Pa.) placed among the top eight in their respective weight classes to lead the Navy wrestling team to a 14th place finish at the 2021 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational held Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas. The 26-team field featured 10 programs ranked among the NWCA Div. I Wrestling Coaches Top 25 Poll, as well as 100 nationally-ranked wrestlers.
Ranked ninth nationally, Nebraska won the team title with 125 points and placed eight of its 10 wrestlers, including six among the top three. Ohio State, ranked eighth, finished second in the team standings with 104 points and placed five of its 10 competitors. Rounding out the top five were Michigan (94.5 pts, 6 place winners), Northwestern (91.5 pts, 5 place winners) and Wyoming (91.5 pts, 5 place winners).
The Mids moved up two spots in the final standings after entering the final day in 16th place. Navy, who amassed 39.5 points, was just 1.5 points behind 13th-place Stanford and 5.0 points ahead of 16th-place Utah Valley.
Only three schools did not place at least one wrestler in the competition, while Navy was one of 16 programs to place at least 3 wrestlers. Remarkably, the 10 individual winners represented 10 different programs - 125 (#2) Patrick Glory, Princeton; 133 (#16) Dylan Ragusin, Michigan; 141 (#7) Clay Carlson, South Dakota State; 149 (#1) Yianni Diakomihalis, Cornell; 157 (#2) Ryan Deakin, Northwestern; 165 (#2) Evan Wick, Cal Poly; 174 (#3) Mikey Labriola, Nebraska; 184 Kaleb Romero, Ohio State; 197 (#9) Stephen Buchanan, Wyoming; 285 Gary Traub, Oregon State.

Shane Finney (Sr / 174 / Carlsbad, Calif.) and finished in the fifth/sixth-place match.
