Clayton Thompson and Molly Mangan led Navy track and field to a sweep of the IC4A / ECAC Outdoor Championships.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Navy track and field student-athletes Clayton Thompson (Corpus Christi, Texas) and Molly Mangan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) were named Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) Athletes of the Week, presented by Northrop Grumman, for their efforts in helping Navy claim the IC4A and ECAC Outdoor Championships. The duo shared the honor with women's rowing's first varsity eight that won the Patriot League Championship over the weekend.

Thompson helped lead Navy men's track and field team to its third consecutive team win at the IC4A Outdoor Championships, matching the Midshipmen's previous best three consecutive wins in 1944, 1945, and 1946. The senior captain was named IC4A Co-Performer of the Meet on the men's side for his efforts on the track, earning IC4A All-East honors in three events, including a pair of victories. Thompson won the 110m and the 400m hurdles. He posted the second-best time in school history, 13.80, in the 110m hurdles, while clocking the fifth fastest time in the Navy annals, 51.64, to win the 400m hurdles. In addition, Thompson ran the opening leg of the 4x100m relay that clocked a collective time of 41.20 to finish second and earn IC4A All-East distinction.

Mangan helped lead the Navy women's track and field team to its first ECAC Outdoor Championship since 1989 when the Mids claimed the Division II ECAC title. The sophomore earned four ECAC All-East honors, including winning the 200m dash. She claimed the 200m dash with a Navy school-record time of 23.91. Mangan also earned All-East distinction in the 400m dash, the 4x100m relay, and the 4x400m relay. She clocked the second fastest time in program history, 54.39, in the 400m dash to finish second in the event. Mangan ran the second leg of the 4x100m relay, helping the quartet to a second-place finish with a collective time of 46.43, which is the seventh best performance in Navy history. In addition, she ran the anchor leg of the 4x400m relay team that finished third with a time of 3:46.92, which was the 10th best time in school history.

Navy returns to action in two weeks when the Midshipmen head to the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Fla. on the campus of the University of North Florida.
