FAIRFAX, Va. – The Navy track and field team recorded a solid performance at the Patriot Games at George Mason Field House over the weekend. The meet was highlighted by
Walker Rudisaile (Marion, Texas) who broke the Navy school record in the pole vault.
"The meet was good," Director of Navy Track and Field
Jamie Cook said. "The team competed well with a lot of PRs. The highlight of the meet was Walker in the pole vault with a new school record jump of 5.26m. I am excited for him and the work he has done with Coach Quiller. Happy that we could get another competitive opportunity prior to next weekend's contest versus Army."
Rudisaile registered a new Navy school record height of 5.26m (17-03.00) in the pole vault. The height topped the previous best mark of 5.25m (17-02.75) set by Jiles Maness in 2014 and matched in 2015.
In addition, Navy closed out the day with 50 top 10 finishes at the meet, including 30 by the men and 20 by the women. The Midshipmen won five events on the day with the men's and women's pole vault, men's 3,000m, men's high jump, and women's 800m.
Rudisaile won the pole vault with his school-record performance, while his counterpart Alayna Schloeder (Rockford, Minn.) won the women's pole vault with a height of 3.77m (12-04.25). Emily Ettrich (Whispering Pines, N.C.) won the 800m run with a time of 2:20.88.
Grant Van Valkenburg (Duvall, Wash.) claimed the 3,000m run with a time of 8:28.24, while
Benjemen Schneider (Savannah, Mo.) won the high jump with a height of 2.02m (6-07.50).
The Midshipmen return to Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis for the annual Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet on Saturday, Feb. 5. The meet is part of the overall Army-Navy Star Series, presented by USAA. The men's meet is slated to begin at 11:00 a.m., while the women start competition at 2:30 p.m.
