JUNO BEACH, Fla. – Navy senior women's golfer Eve Worden had her best round of the week on Tuesday, using the final 18 holes to raise herself into a tie for 36th in stroke play at the second annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup, held at the Seminole Golf Club in Juno Beach, Fla.

Playing as one of four individuals invited into a loaded field that featured golfers from seven top-25 teams, Worden was able to come away with a 16-over par 232 performance over 54 holes, posting four birdies along the way.

The Navy captain sat at 5-over par 77 after the morning round on Monday, registering birdies on holes No. 7 and No. 13. She then shot an 11-over par 81 in Monday's afternoon round, heading into the final day at 14-over par 158.

Tuesday saw Worden shoot three bogeys on the front nine, but she recovered with birdies on the 13th and 15th holes to sandwich another bogey on No. 14, as she shot par the final three holes and finished with her lowest round of the tournament at 2-over par 74.

The final-round score pushed her to 16-over par 232 for the event, tying for 36th with LSU's Aine Donegan.

The 2-over par 74 on Tuesday is tied for Worden's third-lowest round in her collegiate career.

Wake Forest was the leading team in stroke play at 19-under par 845, followed by Stanford in second at 13-under par 851 and Duke in third at 11-under par 853. South Carolina shot a 7-under par 857 to take fourth, while USC (2-over par 866), LSU (4-over par 868) and Arkansas (11-over par 875) rounded out the seven teams. The top-four teams will continue tomorrow with match play.

The Demon Deacons also had the individual stroke champion, as Rachel Kuehn finished at 10-under par 206 to beat the defending Stephens Cup co-champion, LSU's Carla Tejedo Mulet, whose second-place score was 8-under par 208. Worden was one stroke off from being the top special-invite individual finish, as Howard's Kendall Jackson shot a 15-over par 231 to tie for 34th.

The Jackson T. Stephens Cup is named in memory of the late Augusta National Chairman Jackson T. Stephens, who attended the Naval Academy where he graduated as a member of the Class of 1947. The field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is named Jack Stephens Field, whose gift of $10 million in 2003 aided in the renovations of Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, as well as a handful of other projects part of the United States Naval Academy Campaign; Leaders to Serve the Nation.

Navy now travels to the Lady Blue Hen Invitational this weekend, being held at the Rehoboth Country Club.
