Track and Field Concludes Final Tune Up Before Conference Championship

The Midshipmen tallied 26 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times and marks in the final home meet of the indoor season.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track and field team hosted the Navy Select at Wesley A. Brown Field House in the final tune up before the Patriot League Indoor Championship. The Midshipmen tallied 26 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times and marks in the final home meet of the indoor season.

"I think there were a lot of good performances," Director of Navy Track and Field Jamie Cook said after the meet. "The student-athletes were excited to be here and get the opportunity to compete. Whenever you are given an opportunity, you have to take advantage; and I think we did that today. A lot of young kids stepped up who don't get a chance to compete quite a bit and have done really well. Some of our regulars did their same thing and continued to be consistent. We are happy with that aspect of our team. Leadership is going well. Moving into next week, we know what we need to do to prepare. The coaching staff is excited and the team is excited so we will be ready to compete next week."

On the men's side, Navy tallied 19 IC4A qualifying performances. The Mids were balanced with 10 qualifying times and nine IC4A marks on the field side.

Navy tallied three IC4A times in the 200m dash with Jay Evans (Cusseta, Ga.), Jacques Guillaume (Jacksonville, Fla.), and Jonathan Simmons (Oakland, Calif.) each posting qualifiers to finish 1-2-3 in the event. Greyson Gravitt (Flower Mound, Texas) won the 800m run with an IC4A time of 1:52.44. Tyler Casey (Collierville, Tenn.) and Tyler Callaway (Rhododendron, Ore.) posted qualifiers in the 1,000m. The one-mile run saw Andrew Cabral (Seekonk, Mass.) and John Bowers (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) claim first and second with a pair of IC4A times, while Garrison Clark (Severna Park, Md.) won the 3,000m run. Baynes Autrey (Mountain Brook, Ala.) rounded out the IC4A times in the running events in the 60m hurdles.

Walker Rudisaile (Marion, Texas) won the pole vault with a height of 5.25m (17-02.75), finishing just one centimeter shy of his Navy school record. Charles Crispi (Staten Island, N.Y.) posted an IC4A jump of 5.15m (16-10.75) to finish second.

In the throws, Joshua Boamah (San Diego, Calif.) and Collin Greene (Elkridge, Md.) posted IC4A qualifiers in the shot put and the weight throw, while Sam Kwatkosky (Ocala, Fla.), Jonathan Harding (Lafayette, La.), and Eric Donevant (Peachtree City, Ga.) also posted qualifying marks in the weight throw.

On the women's side, the Mids tallied three ECAC qualifying times in the one-mile run, while earning four marks in the pole vault.

Emily Boutin (Chicopee, Mass.), Maddie Warrender (Mount Wolf, Pa.), and Alanna Julius (Minnetonka, Minn.) finished 1-2-3 in the one-mile run, clocking times of 4:53.30, 4:55.74, and 4:57.26, respectively.

In the pole vault, Charlene Morke (Isanti, Minn.) and Stephanie Jacobs (Belleville, Ill.) each posted ECAC heights of 3.90m (12-09.50) to finish atop the standings, while Alayna Schloeder (Rockford, Minn.) and Briana Green (King George, Va.) were just off of the podium with an ECAC height of 3.70m (12-01.50).

Navy returns to action next weekend as the Midshipmen take part in the 2022 Patriot League Indoor Championship in Lewisburg, Pa. on the campus of Bucknell. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a limited number of spectators are permitted at the 2022 Indoor Track and Field Championships.
