Pair of Stars on the Line as Track and Field Hosts Army

The men’s meet begins with field events at 11:00 a.m., while the women’s meet is slated to start at 2:30 p.m.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track and field team hosts rival Army on Saturday, Feb. 5 at Wesley A. Brown Field House in the annual Army-Navy Indoor Star Meet as part of the overall Army-Navy Star Series presented by USAA. America's Meet begins with the men's teams at 11:00 a.m. with the women's competition following at 2:30 p.m. The meet is open to the public and admission is free.

Meet Scoring
Scoring is 5-3-2-1 for individual events (5-3 for relays). Each team will have three athletes competing in each individual event with two individuals scoring per institution. If a school "sweeps" an event (1-2-3) they win the event 8-3. With 15 individual events and two relays, there are 181 total points up for grabs so 91 or more points wins the meet.
 
Series
On the men's side, Navy holds a 33-27-2 overall advantage in the overall indoor series, including a 21-9-2 mark in Annapolis. The women's team is 17-17-1 all-time against the Black Knights in the indoor series with a 9-7-1 record at home.
 
Director of Navy Track and Field Jamie Cook is 11-3 all-time in Army-Navy Star Meets with a 5-3 mark in indoor competition. Under Cook, Navy won indoor stars in 2018, 2020, and 2021 with the men and 2020 and 2021 with the women.

Accessing the Naval Academy
The Naval Academy is closed to all vehicles without a Department of Defense-approved identification card. All other visitors must either walk through one of the security gates or ride the shuttle bus. The free shuttle bus service begins one hour before all meets. Whether walking on or riding the shuttle bus, those ages 18 and over must present a photo identification card (driver's license) to gain access and those ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
 
The shuttle will depart from the blue (west) side parking lot at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Enter the lot off of Taylor Avenue (south side of the stadium). There is a $5 parking fee per vehicle. The shuttle will depart from and return to the bus stop next to the Blue Angel jet.
 
COVID-19 Policy
As per Department of Defense regulations, those who have not been vaccinated must wear a mask at all times when on the USNA grounds and those who have been vaccinated have the option to wear a mask while outdoors but must wear a mask while indoors. Additionally, masks must be worn by everyone regardless of vaccination status while riding the shuttle bus.

Rudisaile Earns NAAA and Patriot League Weekly Honors (Feb. 1, 2022)
Navy pole vaulter Walker Rudisaile (Marion, Texas) was named the NAAA Athlete of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman, as well as the Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week for his record-breaking performance last weekend at the George Mason Patriot Games. He shared the NAAA Athlete of the Week honor with Millen Randell of Navy squash.
 
Rudisaile registered a new Navy school record height of 5.26m (17-03.00) in the pole vault to win the event. The height topped the previous best mark of 5.25m (17-02.75) set by Jiles Maness in 2014 and matched in 2015. The height is the best in the Patriot League this year and ranks 20th in the NCAA in 2022. In addition, the height was a personal best for the sophomore.

Men's Recap: Navy 101, Army 80

The Navy men's track and field team posted a 101-80 victory over Army at Gillis Field House at the annual Army-Navy Indoor Star Series Meet, which is part of the overall Star Series presented by USAA. The win was the first for the Midshipmen in West Point since 2015.
 
The 101 points scored marked the second consecutive season the Midshipmen recorded triple digits in the America's Meet. Last season, Navy won 109-71 in Annapolis. The 101 points was the most points scored in West Point by the Mids since notching a 102-79 victory in 2015.
 
The men's team earned max points in seven events, while winning 10 of 17 events to cruise to the victory.
 
Women's Recap: Navy 98, Army 83
The Navy women's track and field team recorded a 98-83 victory over Army at Gillis Field House in the annual Army-Navy Indoor Star Series Meet, which is part of the overall Star Series presented by USAA. It was the first road win for the Mids in the series since 2013 and the first time Navy posted consecutive indoor victories since the Midshipmen recorded nine consecutive wins from 2006 to 2014.
 
The 98 points scored by Navy was the most since the Midshipmen posed a 104-77 win in 2014 in Annapolis. It was the most points scored in West Point since tallying 103.5 points in a victory in 2011. Navy won nine of the 17 events on the day, including earning max points in seven events.
