The 2022 wrestling season came to a close on Friday afternoon for the Navy Midshipmen and second-year head coach Cary Kolat, as Josh Koderhandt (Fr / 133 / Belleville, Ill.) and Jacob Koser (Jr / 197 / Dillsburg, Pa.) bowed out of the 2022 NCAA Wrestling Championship Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich.

Koderhandt, who opened the competition with a 5-4 victory over 17th-seeded Haiden Drury of Utah Valley, lost his second match of the tournament to see his All-America hopes cut short in his first of what will likely be several future NCAA Championship appearances. Koderhandt bowed out of the tournament on Friday in a 6-0 loss to 18th-seeded Joseph Hellman of North Carolina. The rookie closed out the year with a 26-9 record that included a second-place finish at the EIWA Championship.

The tournament also came to a close for Koser, who earned his first-career NCAA Championship victory Thursday evening with a 12-0 major decision over Ben Smith of Cleveland State. Koser, however, would be on the other side of the major decision on Friday, as 14th-seeded Greg Bulsak of Rutgers cruised to an 8-0 victory over Koser. The two-time NCAA qualifier finished the year with a 26-9 mark that included a third-place showing at the EIWA Championship.

Fellow two-time NCAA qualifier Andrew Cerniglia (So / 157 / Nazareth, Pa.) was eliminated from the tournament Thursday evening following a paor of losses by a combined 5 points.
