ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The duo of
Olivia de Olazarra (Miami, Fla.) and Braden Presser (Liberty, Mo.) were selected as the NAAA Athletes of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman. de Olazarra helped the intercollegiate sailing team to a seventh-place finish at the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship, while Presser qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in the javelin.
de Olazarra helped lead the Navy intercollegiate sailing team to a seventh-place finish in the 18-team field of the ICSA Women's Fleet Race National Championship last week. The senior standout opened the competition by leading the Mids to a third-place mark in the A Division of the championship's eastern semifinal, followed by an eighth-place mark in the A Division of the championship round of the competition. The senior participated in all three ICSA National Championships for Navy, which included 11-straight days of racing. For her efforts in helping lead the way for the Midshipmen this season, de Olazarra was recognized as an ICSA All-American Women's Skipper for the second-consecutive season following Navy's participation in the national title races.
Presser punched his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championship in Eugene, Ore. with a sixth-place finish in the javelin. In his second NCAA East Preliminaries, Presser registered a distance of 72.17m (236-09) to move on to the Championship. The top 12 advanced to the NCAA Outdoor Championships and Presser cruised with a sixth-place performance. The distance was the third best in Navy history and the second-best for the sophomore this year. Presser was the only Navy student-athlete to advance to the NCAA Championship. He will take part in the javelin at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Eugene, Ore., on Wednesday, June 8 at 8:45 p.m. (ET).
