ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) awarded National Scholar-Athlete recognition to eight members of the Navy tennis programs based upon their academic performance during the 2021-22 school year.  Additionally, the Navy men's team earned All-Academic Team honors from the ITA.
Those who earned ITA National Scholar-Athlete honors posted a grade-point average of at least 3.50 for the entire 2021-22 academic year.  Six members of the Navy men's team earned the accolade.  This list includes recent graduates 
Jack Dabek (Dublin, Ohio), 
Derrick Thompson (Towson, Md.) and 
Sam Vagner (Staten Island, N.Y.), along with rising juniors 
Eric Liu (Canton, Mich.), 
Nicholas Nguyen (McLean, Va.) and 
Sasha Panyan (Lutherville, Md.).
Dabek and Thompson each earned the award for a fourth time, Vagner is a three-time recipient, Liu and Nguyen both received the accolade for the second year in a row and Panyan was named a National Scholar-Athlete for the first time.
Rising senior 
Jillian Taggart (Fair Oaks, Calif.) and rising junior 
Stella Ribaudo (Chicago, Ill.) garnered the honor for the Navy women's team.  Taggart has now received the accolade in each of her three seasons and Ribaudo is a first-time recipient of the award.
ITA All-Academic Team recognition is given to those programs that have a team GPA of at least 3.20 for a full academic year.  The Navy men's team earned the honor for the fourth-straight year and the sixth time in the last seven seasons.
