SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Navy track and field team competed in the PLNU Collegiate Invite for its first outdoor competition of the 2023 season on Saturday. Navy registered 31 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times in San Diego and set six program top-10 marks.

Molly Mangan recorded top-10 Navy times in the 100m and 200m dash. Her 100m dash time of 11.86 seconds ranks eighth in school history and her 200m dash time of 23.99 seconds ranks second. Both of Mangan's times also met ECAC qualifying standards. Mangan also teamed up with
Jia Anderson,
Mayu Gayton and
Sabrina Sutter to post the fourth-fastest 4x100m relay time in Navy history with a qualifying time of 46.09 seconds.

Sutter posted the additional qualifying times in the 100m (12.04) and 200m dash (24.63) for the women's team.

Caden Dailey and
Nico Gonzalez-Reed posted collegiate-best / IC4A qualifying times in the men's 100m dash with times of 10.74 seconds and 10.84 seconds respectively.

Sethan Hollier (21.52), Dailey (21.83) and
Jonathan Simmons (22.01) recorded the qualifying men's times in the 200m dash. Simmons also posted a qualifying time in the 800m at 1:50.68, which is the fastest 800m run of his career.

The men's top-performing 4x100m relay squad of
Brahmir Vick,
Nathan Kent, Hollier and Dailey ended with the eighth-best time in Navy history with a qualifying time of 40.47 seconds. The additional 4x100m relay men's team of
Jay Evans,
Jacques Guillaume,
Nico Gonzalez-Reed and
Tyler Yurich also posted a qualifying time in the event with a time of 41.78 seconds.

Vick also set a top-10 mark and qualifying time in the 110m hurdles. He recorded the eight-fastest time in program history with a time of 13.92 seconds. The junior now owns seven of the 10 best times in Navy history.

Baynes Autrey set a new collegiate best 110m hurdles time for Navy at the meet, posting a qualifying time of 14.23 seconds. Other qualifying times from the men's track athletes came from
Nathan Kent (47.10) and Guillaume (47.15) in the 400m.

Highlighting the field events was
Braden Presser in the javelin. The 2022 Honorable Mention All-America recipient posted the third-best throw in Navy's record book with a qualifying distance of 73.08m (239' 9").

Caleb Walker also had a qualifying throw in the javelin for the men's team at 68.23m (223' 10").
Renny Murphy recorded the top javelin distance on the women's team with a qualifying distance of 44.53m (146' 1"). Her distance was just .03m short of her collegiate best.

Joshua Boamah posted qualifying marks in all three throw events he competed in. He had the top marks for the men's team in the discus (52.20m, 171' 3"), hammer (60.02m, 196' 11") and shot put (17.22m, 56' 6").

Collin Greene had the additional qualifying mark in the shot put with a throw of 16.23m (53' 3").
David Huizenga joined Boamah in ending with a qualifying distance in the discus throw at 51.26m (168' 2").
Sam Kwatkosky and
Dane Vernor both set new collegiate bests in the hammer throw with qualifying distances of 57.83m (189' 8") and 56.16m (184' 3") respectively.

Autumn Nicholas posted a qualifying mark for the women's team in the hammer throw with a distance of 52.32m (171' 8"). Additional qualifying marks by the Navy women's field athletes came from
Hannah Lowenstein in the high jump (1.70m, 5' 7") and
Stephanie Jacobs in the pole vault (3.75m, 12' 3.5").
