SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Navy track and field teams concluded their second outdoor meet of the 2023 season on Saturday at the Ross and Sharon Invitational, hosted by Point Loma in San Diego, Calif.
Navy recorded three program records at the event to go along with five additional program top-10 times/marks. Navy also posted 37 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times and placed first in 18 events.
Highlighting the meet was
Molly Mangan, who helped set three program records. Individually, she broke her own program record in the 200m with an ECAC qualifying time of 23.90 seconds to win the event. She also broke Navy's 400m record with a qualifying time of 53.70 seconds to place first. Her time is .46 seconds faster than the previous program mark held by Tineisha Davis, which had stood since 2005. Additionally, the senior helped set a new program best time in the 4x100m relay with
Jia Anderson,
Mayu Gayton and
Sabrina Sutter. The squad clocked in a qualifying time of 45.94 seconds, placing first in the race.
Anderson also recorded the second-best 100m hurdles time in just her second collegiate outdoor meet. She finished with a qualifying time of 13.75 seconds to place second.
Annie Taylor recorded the additional qualifying time in the event for Navy, finishing in fourth-place with a time of 14.50 seconds.
Taylor and
Isabella Romasko finished just a few seconds short of a top-10 time in the 400m hurdles. Taylor finished in second-place and Romasko placed third with times of 1:02.09 and 1:02.91 respectively.
Kylie Bedard finished just behind Taylor and Romasko, placing fourth with a time of 1:03.83.
Brahmir Vick posted the seventh-fastest time in Navy's record book in his 110m hurdle race. The junior easily won the race with an IC4A qualifying time of 13.86 seconds.
Baynes Autrey placed second in the event, recording a qualifying time of 14.29 seconds.
The men's 4x100m relay of Vick,
Nathan Kent,
Sethan Hollier and
Caden Dailey ended with a Navy top-10 time for the second straight week. The four won the race with a qualifying time of 40.40 seconds, which ranks sixth all-time in Navy's record book. Navy's other 4x100m relay squad on the men's side of
Jonah Johnson,
Jacques Guillaume,
Nico Gonzalez-Reed and
Tyler Yurich ended in second-place with a qualifying time of 41.20 seconds.
Guillaume won the men's 400m hurdles race with a time of 53.20.
Jayshon Dubose (54.45 seconds) placed third and
Levi Knobloch (54.47 seconds) placed fourth overall in the event.
Jonathan Simmons and Guillaume posted qualifying times in the 400m. Simmons won the race with a time of 46.52 seconds and Guillaume finished in second-place with a time of 46.82 seconds.
Five Mids ended with qualifying times in the 100m dash. Hollier (10.61 seconds) had the best time for Navy to place second, while Dailey (10.73 seconds) placed third. Vick finished fifth overall with a time of 10.76 seconds and Johnson finished right behind in sixth-place with a time of 10.77 seconds. Gonzalez Reed was the additional Mid with a qualifying time of 10.94 seconds.
Hollier also earned second-place in the 200m dash with a qualifying time of 21.49 seconds.
Jay Evans (21.80 seconds) and Dailey (21.85 seconds) recorded the additional qualifying times in the race, placing fourth and fifth respectively.
Braden Presser recorded a top-10 mark in the javelin for the second straight week. The junior's top throw of the day was a qualifying distance of 72.68m (238' 5"), which ranks fourth all-time at Navy. His distance also won him the event.
Renny Murphy claimed first-place for Navy in the women's javelin with her qualifying distance of 46.81m (153' 7").
Molly Chapman's qualifying triple jump mark of 12.10m (39' 8.5") tied the seventh-longest mark in program history. The triple jump was one of two wins for her in San Diego. Her additional victory was in the long jump with a distance of 5.72m (18' 9.25").
Aidan Featherby won the long jump for the men's team, recording a qualifying distance of 7.31m (23' 11.75"). Dailey also had a qualifying distance in the event, finishing with a jump of 7.18m (23' 6.75") to claim second-place.
Hannah Lowenstein recorded a qualifying mark in the high jump at 1.70m (5' 7") to finish tied for first.
Stephanie Jacobs came up just .01m short of a program top-10 mark in the pole vault. The senior placed second in the event with a qualifying height of 3.89m (12' 9").
Joshua Boamah had a monster day at Point Loma, winning the discus throw (54.41m; 178' 6"), hammer throw (59.56m; 195' 5") and shot put (17.75m; 58' 3"). All three distances were also qualifying marks.
Collin Greene posted qualifying distances in the shot put and discus throw. He ended in second-place in the shot put with a mark of 16.78m (55' 0.75") and third-place in the discus with a throw of 48.90m (160' 5").
Sam Kwatkosky's qualifying distance of 57.83m (189' 8") in the hammer throw earned him second-place in the event.
Dane Vernor also ended with a qualifying mark of 54.59m (179' 1") to place fourth.
David Huizenga posted a qualifying mark in the hammer throw, placing second with a distance of 53.18m (174' 5").
Autumn Nicholas recorded a winning mark in the hammer throw, ending with a qualifying mark of 56.61m (185' 8").

Navy's first outdoor competition in Annapolis takes place next Saturday when it hosts the Navy Spring Invitational I at Ingram Field. The meet begins at 10 a.m. with the field events. The first running event occurs at 1 p.m.
The Mids will welcome Mount St. Mary's, Loyola and Maryland to their first home meet.
