ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy offshore sailing team had two crews competing in the 207-mile Around Long Island Race this past weekend, starting off Thursday in New York City on the Hudson River.
The crew of KODIAK, led by senior skipper Javier Jimenez-Kane, was the first boat to finish, crossing the line Friday afternoon off Sea Cliff, N.Y., in an elapsed time of just over 27 hours. Based on handicap scoring, Kodiak finished fourth in class and fifth overall in the fleet.

The second Navy boat, WAHOO skippered by senior
Madelyn Ploch, had a crew member suffer an injury that forced them to withdraw from racing.
