Navy Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2025 Schedule

ANNAPOLIS, Md. —  Sixth-year Navy men's lacrosse coach Joe Amplo announced the program's 2025 schedule on Friday which features a 14-game regular-season slate for a fourth-consecutive year, including eight games played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Among Navy's home ledger are games against first-time opponents Iona and Le Moyne, along with long-time rivals Johns Hopkins and Army.

The Mids are expected to play four total scrimmages before the 2025 season formally kicks off in February, including a 12-noon matchup against Penn at Bullis School in Potomac, Md. this Sunday to close out fall ball. In January, the Mids will face 2024 NCAA Tournament quarterfinalist Georgetown (Jan. 18 / 12:00 pm), 2024 NCAA Tournament semifinalist Virginia (Jan. 25 / 10:00 am) and Marquette (Jan. 25 / 2:00 pm) in scrimmages before kicking off the program's 118th year.

Playing its earliest season opener in program history, Navy will travel to High Point for a Feb. 1 contest against the Panthers. It will be the first time since 2018 (at Jacksonville / L 12-7) that Navy will play its season opener on the road, while it will also be the first team other than Mount St. Mary's that it will face in the opener since 2020 (Manhattan / W 9-4). High Point won both of the previous two meetings against Navy by identical 14-13 scores (2022 in Annapolis, 2023 in High Point). High Point head coach John Crawley is in his first season leading the Panthers after spending the last two years at Johns Hopkins. Meanwhile, Navy offensive coordinator Ken Broschart arrived in Annapolis over the summer after spending the previous seven years on the High Point coaching staff.

The Mids play six of their next seven games at home, including the inaugural meeting between Navy and Iona on Saturday, Feb. 8. Iona is in its first season as a Division I program, transitioning from club status over the last two years.

Towson will make its first visit to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in a decade when the Tigers take on the Mids on Sunday, Feb. 16. The two programs renewed their series a year ago in Towson, meeting for the 15th time overall (Navy leads 8-7) and the first since the Mids earned a triple-overtime victory against the Tigers in Annapolis on March 3, 2015.

The following Saturday (Feb. 22) Navy will play its first game at Penn State in better than 20 years. The Mids and Nittany Lions have played one another on 39 previous occasions, but last year's game in Annapolis marked the first time the two teams had met since 2003 when they were both members of the ECAC Lacrosse League. The Mids own a 36-3 all-time record against Penn State, including a 6-2 mark in games played in State College.

Navy begins a four-game homestand on March 1 with its Patriot League opener against Boston Univeristy. It will mark the fifth time (1-2 - L, 10-9 2OT in 2016 / L, 8-7 in 2017 / W, 10-8 in 2018 / W, 16-9 in 2024) in Navy's 22-year Patriot League membership that it will open conference play against Boston U. Meanwhile, it will be just the seventh time in 22 years that Navy opens conference action at home (Home 2-4 / Road 6-8 / Neutral 1-0).

The Mids lead the overall series against the Terriers 6-3 and have won four of the last five meetings. Navy is 3-1 against BU in games played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

Navy follows up with a Saturday, March 8 contest against Lehigh, who, under first-year head coach Will Scudder, won the 2024 Patriot League Tournament and represented the league in the NCAA Tournament. While Navy leads the all-time series against the Mountain Hawks 32-14, Lehigh has had the Mids' number, winning each of the last eight contests. Navy's last win in the series was on March 24, 2018 in Bethlehem, Pa., while the Mids last beat the Mountain Hawks at home on March 25, 2017.

Navy will take a step away from conference action when it plays host to Johns Hopkins on Saturday, March 15. Winners of two of the last three meetings, the Mids captured a 10-9 victory over the eighth-ranked Blue Jays a year ago when Max Hewitt dipped inside of his defender and tip-toed his way along the crease before punching in the game-winning goal 44 seconds into overtime. Johns Hopkins leads the series 63-29-1 and has won three in a row against Navy in Annapolis.

Navy welcomes Le Moyne to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, March 18 for the inaugural meeting between the two programs. A former Div. II power, Le Moyne's roots date back to 1984. The Dolphins began their reclassification process in the summer of 2023 and played a full Div. I schedule last spring.

The Mids close out their regular-season schedule by playing six-consecutive Patriot League games, four of which will be played on the road. Navy will play at Holy Cross (March 22) and at Colgate (March 29) on back-to-back weekends. Navy owns a 17-3 series lead against Holy Cross, winning each of the last three contests including last year's 17-7 matchup in Annapolis. Meanwhile, the Mids knocked off 17th-ranked Colgate in Annapolis last spring to improve to 18-8 in the series.

Navy plays its final two home games of the regular season on consecutive Saturdays against Lafayette (April 4) and Army (April 12). The Mids stand 23-2 all-time against the Leopards, including 13-0 in games played in Annapolis. Navy has won each of the last six contests against Lafayette, including last year's meeting (10-9) in Easton, Pa.

One of the most cherished rivalries in all of college sports, the Army-Navy game, returns to Annapolis on April 12 in what will be the 105th game between the two programs. While Navy owns a 63-38-3 series lead, over the last decade the series has been nearly even with Navy holding a 6-5 advantage in those contests. Navy stands 31-19-1 in games played against its archrival on its home field.

Navy will make the short trip to Baltimore to face Loyola on Saturday, April 18 in a game that is expected to be played under the lights. The two met twice a year ago with Loyola scoring a 12-10 win over the Mids in Annapolis, before fourth-seeded Navy avenged its regular-season loss behind a career performance by Dan Daly in goal. Navy seized control of the game in the second half and secured a 12-10 win, the program's first Patriot League Tournament win since 2010.

Navy will play its regular-season finale on April 25 when it travels to Lewisburg, Pa. to battle Bucknell. Winners of each of the last eight meetings, the Mids own a 15-8 series advantage over the Bison. After losing five of the first seven games played in Lewisburg, Navy has won each of the last three and pulled even (5-5) in games played on Bucknell's home field.

The Patriot League Tournament will again feature six teams with the top-two seeds receiving a bye, while quarterfinal contests will be played between the 3-6 and 4-5 seeds on Tuesday, April 29. The Patriot League semifinals will be played on Friday, May 2 at the site of the top seed with the championship slated for Sunday, May 4.

Navy's 14 regular-season opponents compiled a 105-89 (.541) record in 2024 with its five (Iona was not a varsity program yet) non-conference opponents posting a 47-29 (.618) mark.  In addition, four of the 14 qualified for the NCAA Tournament with Johns Hopkins advancing to the quarterfinals.

Navy's television, streaming and radio schedules, as well as game times will be announced at a later date.
