Seventh-year Navy squash head coach
Tyler Osborne will serve on the coaching staff for Squash Canada at the 2024 World Squash Federation (WSF) World Team Championships in Hong Kong, China. The event is slated to be played Dec. 9-15 at the Hong Kong Football Club (HKFC) and will feature a total of 49 teams (26 men's / 23 women's) competing in the championship.
"t's always an honor to represent Canada on the world slate and I am thankful once again for the opportunity to help lead Canada at the World Team Championships," said Osborne, who was a member of the 2010 bronze medal-winning Canadian Men's Junior World Team. "We have two great squads with plenty of experience representing Canada at international events and I am looking forward to contributing where I can to help us improve upon our standings from previous years and begin to lay the groundwork for the Olympics in 2028."
The World Squash Federation (WSF) World Team Championships have been held biennially since 1967 (men's) and 1979 (women's), contested between teams of three players plus a reserve. This is the first time in the championships' 57-year history that it will be held in Hong Kong, and the first time the WSF has combined the hosting of both men's and women's championships.
There will be nine courts used throughout the tournament, including an indoor glass court and a new outdoor glass court which will be utilized from the quarterfinals onward. The pools stage will take place from Dec. 9-10, followed by the knockout stages. The women's semifinals will be played Dec. 13, while the men's semifinals will take place on the 14th. Both championships will be played on the 15th. Fans interested in catching the action live can tune in via WORLDSQUASH.TV(.)
