Navy Claims All Three Patriot League Men’s Track and Field Weekly Honors

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Patriot League announced its first set of track and field weekly awards of the outdoor season on Tuesday afternoon and Navy's Brahmir Vick, Joshua Boamah and Marcel Jackson all earned a weekly accolade for their performances at the Ross and Sharon Irwin Invitational.

Vick was named the men's track athlete of the week for his record-setting 110m hurdles performance. The senior shattered his own program record by 0.13 with a winning time of 13.58. His effort ranks first in the nation amongst times recorded in a legal wind and second overall.

Vick also ran in the 4x100m relay with Nathan Kent, Jonah Johnson and Jay Evans. The squad clocked in a winning time of 40.72, which is the fastest in the Patriot League this season.

The Middletown, Del., native has received three track athlete-of-the-week accolades between the indoor and outdoor seasons in 2023-24.

Boamah carried his success from the indoor campaign into the outdoor season. He collected the first men's field athlete-of-the-week nod of the outdoor season after earning the award seven times over the course of the indoor season.

Boamah broke Navy's 60-year shot put record to place first in the event with a mark of 19.09m (62' 7.75"). The San Diego, Calif., native also recorded victories in the discus (54.71m / 179' 6") and hammer throw (62.72m / 205' 9").

Boamah's shot put distance is currently third in the country, while his hammer and discus throw marks rank 24th and 26th, respectively.

Jackson garnered the men's rookie-of-the-week accolade for the first time in his career. Individually, the freshman ran the second-fastest 100m in the Patriot League (10.67) to finish in third place in the race. Additionally, he took fifth place in the 200m with the fourth-best time in the conference (21.80).

Jackson also ran the first leg for the second-place 4x100m relay team. Jackson, Jacques Guillaume, Nico Gonzales-Reed and Tyler Yurich combined to record a time of 40.93. The finish ranks 47th in the nation.

The Mids will be back on the East Coast this Saturday to compete in the Penn Challenge in Philadelphia, Pa.
