ANNAPOLIS, Md. - This week's Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) Athlete-of-the-Week Award, presented by Northrop Grumman, is shared by track and field seniors Ellie Abraham and Joshua Boamah for their efforts at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships last weekend.
 
Abraham scored a combined 20 points in her three events to lead the women's team to its sixth-consecutive Patriot League outdoor title.
 
She won the 3,000m steeplechase for the third-straight year by breaking the meet and Navy record with a time of 10:10.03. She beat the meet record by 1.21, which was posted by Army's Helen Shearer (10:11.24) in 2021. Abraham's time bested Winter Boese's previous team record (10:14.85) from 2022 by over four seconds. Additionally, her finish ranks 34th in the nation this season.
 
The Brookings, S.D., native later placed third in the 800m (2:09.21) and clocked in the fastest 5,000m time in her career (16:55.95) to finish in fifth place.
 
Boamah helped the men's team claim its 10th-consecutive outdoor championship for winning the shot put and discus with marks of 18.66m (61' 2.75") and 53.47m (175' 5"), respectively. His shot put distance ranks second all-time in program history.
 
Additionally, the San Diego, Calif., native garnered a second-place finish in the hammer throw by posting the fifth-farthest mark in program history (66.15m / 217' 0").
 
Boamah received the men's field athlete-of-the-meet and highest points scorer honors for the second year in a row. He totaled 28 points from his three placements.
 
Track and field continues its postseason schedule with the IC4A / ECAC Outdoor Championship, which is slated for Friday through Sunday in Fairfax, Va.
