ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy wrestling team opens the second half of its season on Friday in Lancaster, Pa., to compete in the 12th annual David H. Lehman Franklin & Marshall Open at the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center. The tournament is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and will feature over 350 wrestlers from 25 different institutions. The tournament will not have team scoring.

Franklin & Marshall Open Notes
·        In the most recent outing, senior team captain Josh Koderhandt and sophomore Danny Wask led all Midshipmen with podium finishes at the Soldier Salute on Dec. 30. Koderhandt won his respective weight class going 4-0 and named the Most Outstanding Wrestler at the tournament. Wask went 3-1 at the tournament taking second in his respective weight class.
·        Koderhandt is the second Mid to place first in a tournament this season. He joins Wask who won the 174-pound crown at the Navy Classic back in November.
·        Head coach Cary Kolat is expected to send 14 wrestlers to compete on Friday.
·        Navy has appeared in every Franklin & Marshall Open since it began in 2013.
·        Eight Mids has been crowned champion at the Franklin & Marshall Open, the third most out of any team in the tournament history. Harvard and Princeton are tied for first with nine.
·        A Midshipmen has been crowned champion at the Franklin & Marshall tournament in each of the previous two years.
·        Junior Brendan Ferretti (133) and Wask (174) are the only current Midshipmen wrestlers to place at the Franklin & Marshall Open. Ferretti won his respective weight class in 2023 while Wask placed third last season.
·        Only four Navy wrestlers have placed first multiple times at the Franklin & Marshall Open.
·        The Mids have had at least three wrestlers place in their weight class in the last five appearances.
·        Four wrestlers – Davis Park (157), Declan Casey (157), Mason Collins (165) and Luke Artz (184) – look to make their season debut at the Franklin & Marshall Open on Friday.
